Has anyone else found the stream quality incredibly inconsistent? The playback during the Dima VS Drinkhall match was choppy like hell for me, it damn nearly gave me seizure, but now I'm watching Yuto Muramatsu play Joao Monteiro, and the stream is flawlessly smooth (has a Japanese scoreboard graphic and no commentator).

Perhaps more people were interested in Dima's match and streaming server could not handle it? I'm not an expert in this technology though.

Well I suppose it's possible that ITTF didn't have enough bandwidth for everyone, so they cut the stream's framerate by half... Which would be sad.

BTW, Yuto and Joao are in the seventh, great match.

I'll explain why I said that. What you're doing is trying to play this behaviour down. I can appreciate his skill, just like you, but any amazing wins he takes home by applying his skill will be soured due to his choing. I think it's a real shame that one of the JNT's major sources of potential behaves in this way.

Why does it matter if he's respectful in other ways? I don't want to see a documentary on his life - I want to see TT played in good spirit with good sportsmanship, without contrived annoyances.

If you're not trying to justify his behavior, why are you trying to say that he doesn't intend to do it? He obviously DOES intend to shout and scream, or he wouldn't do it. It's not a natural response - it's trained. I could accept an argument that it's the coaching system, or whoever has trained this into him, at fault if you could demonstrate that to be the case. But how nice you are to the shopkeeper on your way to the stadium doesn't mean you can behave like an idiot once you get there.

The reason why I take issue with your, well, whatever you're doing (let's face it, if you're not trying to justify it, or explain it away, then I don't know what you're doing) is that I think it's important for this not to become the norm. If harimoto's approach is successful, we will see the same thing adopted wholesale during junior coaching. I don't think it should be encouraged, and I don't think explaining it away via some "aw, he's a nice kid really" wash is good enough. All you're doing is leaving the door open for other juniors to behave in the same way, so long as they behave with respect when away from the table. This is not good enough. I don't care how harimoto doesn't kick his cat when he gets home - I care about what he does when he's playing.

I also see things for what they are. This kid is annoying, and it would be great if he stopped it (and still continued to be awesome at TT, and respectful in all aspects of his life). if not, it would be great if we at least tried to discourage it to prevent it becoming the accepted norm.

Ok. So, let me say it again.
His behaviour is annoying and should NOT be condoned. It would definitely be good if he stopped.
I'm not "explaining it away".
But some people are getting so upset about it that I feel it's important to understand that he's a kid and does not mean to be disrespectful. Knowing this also means that at least I'm happy to appreciate his table tennis rather than get hung up on his screaming. It's unfortunate for you that you can't enjoy it because of this. My prediction is that he will eventually stop as he gets a bit older, we can only hope.

It still doesn't mean we should condone this behaviour. Actually, I've spoken to juniors when they've done this and encouraged them NOT to do it. I don't see how my posts in any way are saying we should condone this behaviour or give him a pat on the back for doing it. I've repeated time and and time again that I also find it annoying.

Anyway, I'm gonna go back to enjoying table tennis and remind myself not to bring these things up again :).

Are you guys satisfied with the quality of the streams as well as the camera positioning? I feel 2015 WC had better video quality and way way better camera placement, this feels like a step backwards.

I have enjoyed Table 3 that seems to cover the Japanese players. Some good replays, and an occasional cool graphic. Seems to be different than the other tables.

Among CNT , FZD is cruising at 4:0 crushing speed. LGY also doing pretty good. Ma long seems not the same Ma Long of 2016. XX is doing ok after first round blues. Played incredible doubles match against bolllong. XX vs Calderano and ZJK vs Lee Sangsu might be interesting.

indeed. 2015 WTTC and Rio Olympic were both broadcast by CCTV. I bet CCTV is the best live group to broadcast TT games in the world. LOVE the camera in Rio.

The quality of table 1 and 3 seems pretty good (with 3 being slightly better). Quality of the rest is mediocre at best.
I'm fine if they can't get commentators for all tables, but at least get a proper camera crew on the main hall. Table 2 and 4 are just less comfortable to watch now...

Table 1 is TV table, China's CCTV covers this table though so far rarely CHN players played at that table.

Then Table 3 is mainly JPN table.

Think the situation may get [much] improved as of today (Friday) for ONLY FOUR tables are used. They're hectic in earlier days with so many tables in operation. The camera coverage for the streaming ones are not great(!), just sufficient, but are still better than the many less funded sports.
