Hmm so it's she's basically changing the racket angle rather than the force direction? That would make sense. So from what I see she starts with a slightly closed racket angle and her followthrough is racket angle is always super open racket angle. When I do it this way I can only get heavy sideunderspin and never heavy sidetopspin which I think is the real killer. So that means for the sidetopspin variant she contacts at an earlier stage when the bat angle is closed and for the sideunderspin she contacts the ball later when the bat angle is open?
Hit the ball closer to your head for topspins. Don't come underneath the ball the follow through will look like that regardless. She is also taking advantage of her height when she uses the serve to make the spins look similar.

Alexis plays quite differently from the typical European style. His short game and receive is among the best. He changed pace and spin. Most people just keep hitting hard.

All the best tomorrow against the Dragon. Use your age and athleticism for your advantage.

He had nothing to lose. No pressure. He played his best 👏
When you have to face supercharged guys like Flavien Coton in CTT Bruille’s « boxing gym » with a über loud crowd very next to you, the infinity arena in China is really quiet compared to that. It’s like serbian and greek basket ball players giving their best in the NBA because it’s just way more… easier then than the agressive crowds you have to endure in the Euroleague.

Not at all, Félix is way better at the short game. Also what Nathanael Molin told him at the time out in the decider was to avoid playing safe in the middle, either serving or receiving, cos’ then FZD would « encage » him with his FH claw short push. So the goal was to open play right/left, to be resilient and accepting FZD’s spin and power on top spins and play counter top spins to overpower FZD. Translation of Lebrun’s coach words at the end of the time out « ne joue pas court au milieu il va t’enfermer avec sa pince ! Joue le top sur top !»

AMAZING win for Alexis Lebrun - and for table tennis in general 🏓🤩

But am I the only one here who is wondering whether Lebruns final shot actually hit the SIDE of the table - and not the EDGE?
At first I thought side but from a different camera angle it looked like it did hit the top.

Alexis stepped back and hit with his BH from mid distance. It was just a half lob so it's close to impossible to hit the side of the table.

Just watched Alexis vs Fan Zhendong, Alexis played with incredible variations to really throw Fan Zhendong off, especially in his attack placements (with fading sidespin) and serve placements (wide BH, fast long, short FH). Alexis BH down the line was just incredible!
