I think rather Lin Yun-Ju has these capabilities than Harimoto to be honest.
It depends. I think top table tennis is a mental game and I am not sure Lin Yun Ju has a better read of the game than Harimoto. Yes his technical foundation is better in most/many ways, but even then, it isn't entirely clear that this is as important as being able to read the game better. And I think relative to that level, for what both their deficits are, I think technical foundation is easier to build than ability to read the game as technical ability will respond to training but game reading may not so much, which is why Harimoto can catch up to Togami and have better results against foreigners despite being clearly at an athletic deficit. All three are still 4 years away from their peak years, barring injury. So there is still a lot of growth for all of them in everything.

Technical shortcomings need not always be a problem. Look at Dima, one of the best players in the world but cannot push forehand and because of this did just lose the last point against Lin. Darko Jorgic, has a "dead arm." His non-playing arm looks like a lifeless object. It never accompanies his strokes. Yet he is also a world player. At this level, it obviously comes down to technical details but, above all, to reading the game. I suppose, everyone knows everyone and has (or should have) read through their game countless times. I'm afraid Harimoto is just a little less advanced in this than Lin Y-J. His reaction time is also slower. (The second point in his match against Wang was proof of this, again).;)

IMHO, that is a lefty vs righty deficit helping WCQ, but again, let's see how it goes. When you play close to the table against power and movement, you will always look slower.

The real reason Ito was benched. She couldn't even stand to cheer on after being stretched to the limit by Szocs, yet she has no trouble when giving instructions

Mark my words, never.
Not because he is not good but Harimoto has his limits and they will never become so good that he can overcome Wang especially since Wang is also a left-handed player.
Hari will definitely get wins, I just think they'll be few and far between. His task is perhaps to pull off a Ryu Seungmin and walk off into the night with his head held up high. I just think the probability is very low, especially if his ranking doesn't improve drastically in the next three months. For his ranking to get a big fillip, he has to win one of the big events. When was the last time he won one with all the Chinese guys attending??

Nothing is going to cut it in the final, we just watch it and enjoy it for what it is. Harimoto should get SYS, Hayata should get CM and Hirano WYD. The funny thing is that all the "stats" that make Japan look scarier will be used to hype up the match by the English commentators but the result if I was a betting man will still be to put my money (even $100) on a Chinese sweep. That's how dominant China is.

The picture is not quite as dire as you paint out. The thing is that he already has a 50-50 chance of not being seeded into a Chinese quarter though of course with his luck he will be seeded into one (and in the past, he flunked out when he wasn't anyways). He only guarantees not being in one by being ranked 3 or 4 but he has a significant disadvantage to Felix and Hugo because they have continental points and good tournament wins and LYJ because of WTT Frankfurt. His 50-50 chance is unlikely to change but it is a good as any and since it is 5-8, it is about as good as it gets for avoiding a lot of dangerous opponents. Ryu Seungmin only beat a Chinese (Wang Hao) in the finals BTW for his gold - Waldner took care of Ma Lin.

Lin hasn't done it before, has he?
Harimoto has.
I'm hoping Lin does past France today and can do it tomorrow.

As I said, its all about timing and teams match is really difficult to take 2 and Harimoto is a rare player in the past 30 years to have taken two against China. I saw that match, just like I saw FTW.
In Harimoto's match, CNT didn't fall apart, but HT risen higher than them. In FTW's match, LSW fell apart.

30 years is now extending the time frame to even include Waldner's era when China was weaker and even then, how many has taken 2.

So its easy to say anyone can do it, but who has?
HT took 2 on TPE this time and TPE is so hot.

More interesting match between France and Taiwan. What is your bet? Taiwan has better chances? I think it all comes down to whether Alexi can play well.
it will all come down to emotional management by Alexi
any clever coach can work on that nerve and exploit it

On paper, both teams are neck to neck
so it will be based on who plays normal on the day

I don't think anyone on the French team will go past Lin Yun Ju given how hot he is at the moment. So the question is if Kao or Chuang can get the remaining point, which with their fighting spirit I tend to believe that they can upset the French team.

Chuang really pulled out a superhuman performance against Dang Qiu who wasn't playing bad at all. That kind of speed at his age is kinda unbelievable, wonder how did he maintain it when almost every other player slowed down dramatically and had to rely on tricks - no, Chuang looked even faster than the youngsters in that match lol.

Taiwan going all the way to the finals this time?!

LYJ proven himself by winning Frankfurt against 2 very hot top CNT players (Wang Chuqin and Ma Long) imo. I think the threat level against CNT between Harimoto and LYJ are about equal at this point in time...
