English is unlikely to be your first language but since I was the guy who wrote about boring match, it was my prediction which Harimoto exceeded beyond my expectations. And it was clear after that everyone had a right to make fun of my prediction and many did.
for Hugo
bronze match is always tougher than SF
despite men's having 1 extra day to recover for SF lost, Hugo just never looked like a threat.
it could be the SF lost

many years ago when LYJ lost against Kanak in the youth olympics bronze medal match, its was his failure to restart/reboot from his very close SF lost to HT (3-4 lost)
Kanak only beaten LYJ 4-3 and 11-9 in the decider, but LYJ's threat level also decreased a lot

Seems like his game against Harimoto was the real final. After that he lost only 1 set in two games.
Some of you will really go out of your way to diminish Truls. He eliminated the world #1 and #6, his silver is well deserved. Hold on to your dignity, people.

The "Novak can never be GOAT" crowd is having a nightmare right now as well.

Yeah that Kanak result was a relative surprise at the time. Kanak is a year older and is a technically solid player so he does have those surprises when the "better" player is off.

For Hugo though, I don't think it was just the extra day, I think Felix and coach worked out how they wanted to play Hugo using Truls yesterday and Felix wins and the last two losses and Hugo didn't come with any solutions. If you notice Felix didn't get into short short, it was very short to forehand /long push to backhand and flick to open rally to challenge Hugo before he goes back from the table or to force slower opening to get wide angles, similar to Truls but more efficient. Felix backhand sidespin makes backhand ealy with him hard. And Hugo's serve game is so predictable he couldn't make Felix back off. Maybe if Hugo had won Game 2 he could have done better but he wasn't even tactically there. Which is very sad given how well he played other players in the event. Hopefully he can break his Olympic curse, the bronze medalist beats him again. But to me, he needs to add more tactics to his game especially on service.

It's a compliment to Harimoto, not an insult to Truls IMHO.

I know you are trying be edgy here and I AM ok with that because no one is perfect but maaaaaaan, this match was lit. Harimoto's Red-Blue drip, giga chad jawbone, spitting the backhand to backhand rallies like ' Fan you should work harder ' was super crazy. We saw superhuman Harimoto. It gives me Ma long vs Mizutani 2016 Olympics vibes
Ma long was superhuman too

The mens final was probably the best match I ever seen. Fan Zhendong elevated his game in the final and was way better than in the Harimoto match. Truls played amazing and and he stole many hearts, what an artist!
There just jealous… I didn’t see any Koreans, I didn’t see any Taiwanese, I didn’t see any Japanese in the final.
The two best players right now met in the final. I don’t think anybody would have beaten FZD.

Cheers

It implies Harimoto deserved the silver more.

Truls really earned this one. This was a whole new Truls, Truls that doesn't crack under pressure. Definitely not the same Truls that lost to Pitchford at the ETTC, or to Darko in Montreaux twice.

its zeio who has a never loose attitude
when he struggles to reply facts with me, he takes jabs at any Taiwanese person.

I know it is difficult to follow, amidst his spams of quotes of posts (and those from outside this forum) and stuff, but after few years of reading some of his posts, you will know what I mean.

He wants Hayata to retire, now he is like praising her a hero to take an injection that no other tt player has taken.
I told him that many has taken, and he taking a jab at CIC in retaliation....

see, how immature he is.
10 years ago, I thought he was a teenager who has too much time
10 years later, I still think he is a teenager who has too much time

I once asked him nicely - how the heck do you have so much time in the world. I followed up asking, what do you do for a living. Do you even have time to play table tennis? lol
he choose not to reply.
he remains a mystery, and many TTD users takes turn to keep him busy.

Tony, you're a respected couch but the way you act to zeio is childish. He's doing his thing and you are only attacking him. You'll always be the second one in such interactions. Don't you see? I suggest you do your thing and be the first again. You're better than that. Cheers.

Harimoto doesn't have the silver. He played the best match against FZD. Truls clearly deserved his silver so it is splitting hairs. If you think Harimoto deserves the silver more that is an opinion. But it will not take away Truls silver. Nor the fact he beat Wang to get it.

Nothing about Truls really changed. He was the underdog in almost every match he played. He was working on new things that came together at the right time especially the backhand topspin. I wasn't in the crowd that thought he was choking I just thought he was trying to get his game right.

Well played Truls!

P.S.: The "accidental" destruction of WCQ's bat will go down as the most successful Swedish secret service operation in history! :)

From a technical standpoint, his footwork improved immensely. I cannot overstress this. His stroke mechanics are also better and especially the feet movement in-between the strokes.

From a mental standpoint, less tantrums, less talking to himself, better focus.

I regret watching the final tbh. Seing top form plays in g1 only to downgrade to retarded chop blocks and absolute no faith in himself by Truls was painful.
Nah man, I can't see that at all.
The next 4 games were 9-11,9-11, 8-11, 8-11.
What I saw was a top class display from FZD and an amazing effort to contain it from Moregard.
It's incomprehensible to see this as some sort of Truls catastrophe, he won a silver medal coming from nowhere, stunned, amazed and wowed crowds with outrageous Table tennis at times and played a gutsy final where he was just beaten by the better player, who it should be mentioned is also one of the most experienced player at the event (CNT 12 yrs already!!!)
Congrats to both 👏

Where and when he got his first Olympics silver? May be I can find some medals too?
I suggest you read what you responded to again... "Truls is the third" implies he is only the third european player to win silver at the olympics, it doesn't mean he has three silver medals of his own! 😜

well, he loves attacking Taiwan
its obviously he only have such balls when hiding behind his computer.

he joked about a injured badminton star who had to wear knee brace and folded in the groups. She wasn't even supposed to be make it to the OG being that injured and under "injection" too.
however, yesterday Taiwan beat China in the men's doubles (badminton), of which China refused to broadcast the live match, knowing there will be a lot of Europeans chanting to word "Taiwan" in the stands - that indeed happened. You know, they can confiscate banners saying "Go Taiwan", of having a Chinese fan bully a young women with a "go Taiwan" poster and snatching it out of her arms (think savage)

zeio knows Olympics is a sensitive subject for Taiwanese, and he loves to trigger it.
I would (every 4 years), fight back! lol

there is a rule in Paris, 3 flags are not allowed
2 of them involved with the war against Ukraine, the 3rd one is a peaceful nation, which its products (TSMC), serves the whole world, including that of china.
