You know this whole time I had confused SXN with Fu Yu. I kept thinking SXN has a solid chance at winning her games because she's in good form and had beaten Jeon Jihee 4-0 earlier in the tournament. 🥴

Both play traditional penholder. You distinguish them beyond their uniforms by Xiaona Shan plays short pips and Fu Yu plays inverted.

Even if it's not totally surprising, it's still pretty damn depressing.

Weird mixed messaging by NK to their own athletes, encouraging unified teams in the past (even as recent as 2018) and now punishing even a selfie. These athletes deserve better.

The NED is perhaps the most notorious American NGO that's created by the US congress and designed to conduct overt operations under the guise of a NGO whereas beforehand they would've been conducted covertly by the CIA. 9 NK took part and walked away with 6 medals.
some great ROI for medal vs number of participants, probably world record ROI

but sadly for these athletes, they are born at the wrong place and need to suffer these kind of ideology.

2010 South Africa soccer world cup, the NK team stayed at a cheap hotel few mins away from where I stayed.
one of my friends who goes to the gym nearby that hotel actually told me there were few short asians running on the treadmill and going super fast too. I said, it must be the north koreans, he thought so too, and he was afraid to say hi to them.
Apparently, 1 or a 2 of the players went missing during the course of the world cup. Supposedly ran away, but apparently they were caught and sent home.

I recall NK had a great match against Brazil and lost 1-2 (it was much closer than the score) and then the next match was against Portugal, and NK actually allowed its first live broadcast for years with this match.... but NK got humiliated 0-7, and it was a live broadcast too..... the next match wasn't broadcast and they lost 0-3 to ivory coast
since then, I don't think NK ever had any other live sport broadcast.
not sure what happened to the "treason" and other players since then.

the Paris OG, NK should of have allowed live broadcast, at least sports could give its people some joy to talk about.
