Yokoi beat Hirano 3 times last season. No one wants to lose 3 times in a row especially when you're on the National Team and the other player is a NT candidate.
Yeah. But she played subpar internationally before last month. Maybe Odo just gave her the points out of charity lol. Odo doesn't need them at the moment.

I think it's a combination of familiarity with Odo's game plus taking longer to adjust to playing internationally. They both have the same coach. And Yokoi taking down 4 CNT players in a row at Feeder Muscat shows what she's capable of. Good to see the progress from both of these players.

No i haven't, since that seems obvious. Most countries don't reach the NER limit in the first place
I think you probably haven't followed enough of WTT then.
I shall leave you at that, as it seems to just finger pointing from WTT to NA and there isn't much countries flooding the entry list (other than host)

btw, thanks for joining TTD and for your first 2 posts, being on this matter

For the record, she beat Hayata (1 H2H 2) and Harimoto (1 H2H 0) as well, but apparently those 3 hardly cared about the T.League, as she lost in all matchups against them in the selection trials. Of all the selection trials, her most notable win was against Ito at Zennihon Takkyu 2023.

Although she wasn't able to beat the very top players at the selection trials, at times she gave them really tough matches (ex: 2023 Zennoh Cup Hiratsuka: R16 3-4 Hayata (-6, 7, -9, 5, -7, 5, -15))

And she's improved considerably since then as have others such as Odo and Hashimoto.

That was a surprise - looks like Yokoi is playing closer to what she does in t-League now lol... either that or Odo was completely off...
As well as in Zennihon Takkyu. Yokoi has the MUCH better record in the senior event (SF in 2023 and 2024) whereas Odo has the MUCH better record in the junior event (GS Champion in 2020 and 2021). Odo always ran into her meanie senpai early (most notably R16 3-4 Hayata in 2021).

FWIW, it could be a team order given they are affiliated to Miki House, yet Odo is only slightly ahead in H2H in recent domestic competitions (many results for selection trials between Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 were lost after the JTTA official website were upgraded multiple times).

Odo
2024 WTT CT Almaty
R32 0-3 Yokoi (-5, -10, -6)
2024 WTT CT Lima
SF 3-0 Yokoi (8, 5, 12)

2023 Zennoh Cup Osaka
5-8th 4-2 Yokoi (-7, 7, 6, -7, 3, 5)
2021 90th Inter High
F 2-3 Yokoi (3, 4, -13, -3, -11)
2021 Zennihon Takkyu
JGS F 3-0 Yokoi (9, 7, 9)

I wonder what the thinking was with both Miwa and Kihara entering this tournament. It ends on Sept 8. Champions Macau starts on Sept 9. I wonder if they had assurances from the tournament director at Macau to schedule their matches in the latter stage of R32. Still not much time to rest/prepare.

apparently Anne is a T-Leaguer
To me Uesawa gives off the vibe of Hayata and Nagasaki. I was reluctant to include her in the field of players for LA 2028 because she is the oldest among those born in 2007, yet her ranking is below those born in 2008 (started competing internationally in 2018 for 2 stops then in 2023 for 1 stop and only consistently since 2024), but unlike Hayata, Uesawa will have at least 6 players from her generation competing with her, 4 of whom are over 1 year younger. She will make her debut at this WYC 2024.

Poor Chien Tung-Chuan. Losing again after Paris 2024, albeit much closer this time. I wrote over at MyTT once that she has the potential. Will need to work on her fitness.

They are at the age that should be playing non-stop. And it makes total sense to get a head start for LA 2028 like Hayata did for Paris 2024. Look at Hirano (forgoing the WS for WD of WT, too selfless) and Ito (forgoing the XD for WS and WD and later on WS only, too selfish).

you seem to know her well don't you?
Okay, we all know you don't and I actually know her in person.

she lacks international matches with higher levels and Paris was a huge surprise in just taking part (she jumped the queue of 2 to 3 players in the last min and only had chance for teams, not even singles). Her build up to Paris was too fairy tell

She has the ability, but she needs more exposure.
I actually spoke to her today saying I have setup links to European clubs, so maybe I can help her sign up some where.

Yokoi/Odo 3-2 Fan Siqi/Li Yake
G5 15, 1311

That time of the month for Odo? Played like crap in the opening of G5 but recovered in time to make it to deuce.

says Miwa does it!

I don't know. To me Miwa looks tired already. She's winning just now, but she's doing it the old uncle style, if you know what I mean :)

Kihara 1-3 Yoo Siwoo
First cream-of-the-crop to lose to a non-CNT player in the LA 2028 cycle (last one to lose in Paris 2024 cycle)?

Harimoto 2-3 Sasao
Looks like Miwa has a cramp in her left calf. The shadow under the muscle bump looks abnormal.

She will actually play together with Cheng Hsien-Tzu for Weinheim in the upcoming 1. Bundesliga season.

Kudos to Yuta Tanaka for beating Liang Yanning (CHN) 3-2,12-10. Not only did he fought off LIang, he fought off the assistant umpire who at 2-2, Tanaka up 6-2 faults him twice in a row. I'm not sure what the reason was... possibly hiding serve, but nothing egregious and nothing different from his opponent. Great job of keeping calm and pumped up at the same time.
