The coach is doing the right thing - Odo's serves are very dodgy, so why is the umpire calling a dodgy serve on Pavade?
It's fine to make a short protest and move on, but the coach called for a referee to do what? He went on and on about it completely disrupting his player's rhythm. It was just a warning, and you could see that Pavade just wanted to move on. But after the incident, Pavade's play just went downhill.

He wasn't going to change the match result. But he and his player would learn something from it. I doubt he would do it again, especially if his player was competitive, but if there was a time to do it, this was it. That aside, we can wait for the imaginary Hawkeye system that will make all this go away...

SYB and Diaz match of the year?
2-2 15-15 was unreal
It was a great, great match.... a real heartbreaker for Adriana. It's high on the list, but there's Hayata playing using an injured arm to secure bronze and Miwa's down from 0-2 comeback to beat SYS to grab team gold for Japan at the Asian Championship something that hasn't happened in 50 years.

What the ?!! yeah epic match, but Shin Yubin had the edge with so much match points, it reminded me that France-Wales 6 Nations match in 2017, when France was 2 meters away from the Wales try zone, and rucks after rucks after rucks for 20 minutes straight, finally they pushed through those 2 meters to score the try. This is what Shin Yubin has done today, what a fighting spirit this kid has !

Seriously... why Franfurt ? Dang Qiu does not have the support from the crowd he deserves, too much empty seats, come on germans wake up !

This Champions should be held in Dusseldorf for its TT history or Berlin (for their DJs), Frankfurt is not the right place, definitely not !
There are „lets go Dang Qiu“ chants from the crowd in between every single point

However, the part about empty seats is true

Is this how you support your national athletes ? Qiu just came back to 2-2 and this is how the crowd "reacts".... all seats should be occupied with people standing up for your local athlete !!!

Utter domination by LYJ towards the end. He really caught on
2-2 > 1-0, 2-0 and 6-2 were points of exceptional level.
He has gained a lot of power & speed.

Amazing first day for me in the arena. Best matches for me were AJH v Lebrun and Shin Yubin v Adriana Diaz. Mainly because these players and particular matchups quickly got into the rallies, and knew how to hold the ball.

WCQ on the other hand just looked tired and slow, without any fighting spirit left.

LYS‘s technique is absolutely beautiful and looked extremely clean.

Looking forward to Day 2 of Ro16
