Portland drafted really well. Nordberg has arguably been 1st half MVP for the men, and his teammate, Kotomi Okada, has arguably been 1st half MVP for the women. Nordberg beat Lebesson 2-1 and has just been on fire.

Deborah has had a tough start to MLTT, and yeah, hindsight says Seattle should have drafted Kotomi. But I don't think you can compare the value of Deborah vs. Fabiola because the league has just gotten so much stronger. Plus, MLTT takes some time to get used to for some players. Wensheng Wei also had a tough start, but now she beat both Amy Wang and Mo Zhang 2-1.

Despite getting outplayed by Nordberg, Lebesson was a good pick for Chicago as was Mo Zhang.

Tough loss for Seattle today against Bay Area. The 2nd round pick of Vivarelli is looking like more and more of a flop. Luba probably should have not first picked her, allowing for the Cruz counterpick when Cruz clearly had the advantage in the earlier singles. Maybe the idea there was that Vivarelli had figured something out towards the end but I don't see it.

It's sad to see the best doubles pair in the league of Lubo/Jide likely going to miss playoffs due to .... reasons.

well, take it that private coaching is like private tutoring
I wonder what is the costs for say 1 hour piano lesson, or maths tutoring.
In Taiwan, private TT coaching is almost same price as the 2 examples I listed, the only difference is, you don't need 10 hours or 30 hours per week of piano lessons... lol

As predicted, Carolina is the team to beat again. Princeton is cooked and Olah can't save them, doubt they have the firepower for a miracle run like in Season 1. It's probably up to Chicago and Florida for the second East playoff spot. West will be very interesting. Also as predicted Bay Area is yet to be playing at full strength and probably won't be most of the time, and it's a shame that Seattle is strong on paper but criminally mismanaged.

I'm quite surprised Benedek can't do better than that, even Manu Lebesson has been able to beat him quite easily, he still plays WTT tournaments and recently the ETTUC where he's made Alexis suffer a bit. Maybe he does not handle the jet lags that well ?

Piano is really hard, in conservatories you're not far from 20 hours a week cos' there's theory/harmony classes, masterpieces study as private tutoring, group/band classes for those who play jazz, and so on...

i know kids piano is 1 hour sessions maybe 1 to 2 times a week.
and require practice every day.

well, I just heard, so I'm no expert.
However on TT, it is common to have 1 to 2 hours of TT 1on1 coaching per day, 3 to 6 days a week. This is usually above the group training of 2 to 3 hours a day.

maybe to master anything, the hours or all about the same.

He can play well but Princeton's roster top to bottom will make it too hard for them to really contend this season.

The west I think is more balanced among Portland, Texas, and Bay Area. Seattle could be good, but they need better play from Kou Lei and Debora. Portland doesn't have a superstar but is the most well balanced team and very strong at the female position when Omoda plays. When you have Nikhil as one of your USA players, that's a bonus considering his versatility at doubles and ability to surprise in singles such as beating Liam Pitchford at the WTTC.

I think this is who Vivarelli is but we will see. Without saying too much I think how Kou Lei is playing now is part of why Portland was willing to trade, on paper, one of the best players in the league.

It was tough going for the Paddlers without the Swedes, but the Blasters were also without Kim Taehyun. I'm baffled why the Paddlers did not put Omoda in from the start where they would have a clear advantage over Cruz ... It would have been either 2-1 or 3-0 if Omoda had been playing. Instead it was Cruz 2-1 (-9,8,3) over Rachel Sung. Then, in the golden game when Blasters picked Cruz for matchup #4, I assumed Paddlers would select Omoda who is considerably stronger and knows how to play against both short and long pips. Instead, Paddlers chose Wei Wang and the remaining matchup was Omoda vs. Tao Wenzhang who just played the last singles match and was very much in the flow and in form. The male/female matchups mostly offset each other.... actually slight advantage to the Bay Area Blasters. I don't know what the Portland Paddlers were thinking not having Omoda play from the very beginning.

I am wondering if I should place some players in MLTT
the long season with many weeks of waiting time in between matches is a problem.

hopefully when there is more teams, or they reduce the season by half the time.... then maybe

Else I need to place some one in MLTT and say Austria (which allows for double leagues)

You know why the Paddlers and Spinners are consistently playing at a strategic disadvantage from the competition. Lol.

Missed out on most of yesterday's live play so had to watch replays. Vivarelli gets her first win of the season. Her game is still sloppy, but this is the confidence booster she needed. Jeet Chandra I think will be really good once he fixes his issues on receive. He beat Jishan Liang 7,7,6. But I think the most interesting match up of the day was female match between Amy Wang vs. Jiangshan Guo. Guo won 2-1 as Amy had trouble figuring out what to do initially against the LP blocker/attacker. Guo also was matched up against male chopper Artur Abusev. Guo won their 1st round 3-1 but lost their 2nd meeting 1-3. Abusev's chops were largely ineffective against Guo's LP. He adjusted in the 2nd meeting winning by using his strong FH loop. Guo was not even drafted and only came on temporarily for the Bay Area Blasters with Lily's absence. She made the finals of a WTT Feeder only losing to Sakura Yokoi.
