I'm on our local TT league committee. Lots of rumours are going round about a player who is using an illegal rubber, but has been 'doctored' to appear legal. (ITTF codes on the rubber etc)

Players are saying you can buy these doctored rubbers from China. Is this a legit thing? Or just bs?

If they are in ITTF LARC list (See https://equipment.ittf.com/#/equipment/racket_coverings) then they are legal. Like the boosted rubbers that you cannot check if they are boosted or not (boosting is prohibited) the same applies to any other treatment other than gluing them on the blade after these rubbers leave the factory. So yes, they might be "illegal" but you cannot do much until you prove these accusations.

+1 use the list
if it is on, then case close

the only extra part is illegal treatment.

PS. having ittf code on, doesn't mean it is legal today. could be last year, so always check the latest list.

HOW TO DETECT THOSE RUBBERS BEING TREATED ILLICITLY.

All you need is the ©Yinhe handy tester at reasonable price 290 ¥.

We got now a happy news that CTTA did certified this present device with the ultimate view to deploy those domestically. But, if China did take intense steps to uproot cheaters from the sport, why not even more countries?

DON'T SIT IDDLE, STEP OUT AND GET YINHE TESTER. (directly available from Taobao market).

TESTING PROCEDURE IN A CHINA TABLE TENNIS CLUB.

As a result of mutual discussions , they did issued a negative sentence on the present racket:
-- Racket failed in the test

They then told the player to pick up another racket without much delay.
