I would love to see him but I doubt it. He seems to be done playing profesionally completely.
He's not a mercenary, he's got much more respect for the game that doing that move. And also, he does not need that money this artificial league gives to old players or soon to be retired one unable to fund their WTT season on their own.

Where are the fans by the way ? where's the passion ? the crowd ? The atmosphere is just blank, with empty seats mostly.

Why would it be disrespecting the game to play in MLTT? Everyone is a mercenary when the price and opportunity are there. While there are certainly empty stadiums there have also been MLTT crowds that easily rival and surpass Pro A crowds. Please tell us what the Pro A crowds and atmosphere were like in the second year of its existence.

Maybe you can share with us your personal anecdotes with Timo Boll to let us know how you are so sure that he is above doing something that he finds fun in retirement and also happens to pay him handily?

He has been in discussions with USA TT ventures before. Him and Dima have also repeatedly visited a wealthy TT playing family in New Jersey many times in the last year or two, where they play with a USATT 2300 player and some others. But sure he is doing that out of the respect for the highest level of competition in the game and not because of the favors or lavish treatment he receives. He is also taking part in the Ping Pong movie where Timothee Chalamet plays Marty Reisman but sure he is not doing it for the money or because he finds it fun, but because he thinks a Hollywood movie about table tennis is holding the competitive game in the highest respects. And surely he is not being swayed by the financial compensation for this either.

Now I see where this mercenary view comes from....

with all due respect, 99% of us are also mercenaries.
If someone offers you a better salary, you would be silly not to seek better compensation.
We are not NPO or volunteers, we all need to feed our families and cost of living is increasing every year.

And using Timo Boll... well, he is/was the highest paid athlete in TTBL for how many years.
If he is so (what is the word for, no need for money?), then he should give all his earnings away or request minimum wage.

end of the day, Timo is a great person, a great sport, and he deserves being the highest paid table tennis player in Europe.

or seeking better rewards is mercenary, then I think the problem isn't these players, but rather the people calling it that.
And from my understanding of the word, it is seeking money at the expense of ethics.
So which table tennis player is a mercenary (loosing ethics?)

Of course Timo Boll gettin money but he doesnt look like greedy muchacho and he is very down to earth so people thinks he a doing everything for free which is probably the best point of being superstar.

Fan zhendong choose Sarsbrucken because Borussia Dusseldorf probably didnt have enough power to destroy their camp, but he is not for free.
He should choose KTS Gliwice and he probably would have Polish wife too.

Season 3 schedule is out now
https://www.mltt.com/league/schedule

Starting up again September 5

It will be at these venues twice: Alameda County Fairgrounds, Oregon Convention Center, Charlotte Convention Center, Broward County TTC.
We'll likely get our first look at Niwa and Oshima in MLTT play on Sept 19. They could face each other the day after, in NY vs Atlanta.

The weekend in Little Tokyo in LA in December looks interesting to me.

It will also be back at Westchester (now with a home team) and Rider University, and I’ll try to catch those again.

Anyone here been to any of the prior MLTT events at Charlotte? How was it?

Anyone here thinking of attending either/both of Sep 19-21 and the penultimate event of the season, Mar 13-15th?

Surprisingly enough on the Saturday and Sunday Charlotte just went off completely, it was nuts. They filled the seats for it.

So no Mid-Atlantic folks interested in MLTT?

How about elsewhere - anyone here been to an MLTT event and have feedback?
I’ve gone to the ones at Westchester and Rider. It’s oodles of fun.

In addition to the action on the competition table, you can watch players warm-up on the 4 practice tables and meet with some players after they finish their matches. There are also 2-3 tables (1 with a robot, 1 mini-table), where you can hit around with others.

If you want to be seen on the stream (and CBS), get a courtside seat. The general admission bleacher seats also have a pretty good view and you can move around.

MLTT events are a lot of fun. Highly recommended. Will try to go to the Broward TTC events and love watching the livestreams over the weekends during the season.

Sidenote: Sunrise TTC is running a MLTT SPINDEX Challenge League Night this week. Players in our club are looking forward to it. Great initiative to get more players and clubs involved in the competitive side of the game.

Sounds fun, hope it's a success!

Only seen options for session ($5-10), day ($20), and full weekend ($50) passes, but no distinction between the two types of seating.

Thanks for the replies, y'all, definitely will make it a point to attend at least one of the two events given your endorsements.

If anyone is interested in a mini TTD meetup at either of the Charlotte events, give a shout....
