Guess that’s the end of the free Youtube streams for this season and the future. I guess MLTT are doing everything possible to not grow the game in America. Such a shame they are going through this route as WTT & ITTF stream their games for free.

I highly doubt this subscription model is going to work and would be less viewers this season compared to last season.

Maybe this is the pivot to the real business if Flint gets tired of subsidizing millions....
Last season, usually 50 people were watching live stream. How many of those would pay to watch it live? Haha, or maybe you will get paid to watch it live (big way to boost TT in the US):)?

The article mentions they got rights to some Bundesliga matches and are trying to branch out into other leagues.

Interesting. T.League went a different route this year. Livestreams are free on YouTube. On demand is $2.99/month also on YouTube. Because of the timezone difference, it's usually easier for me to watch on demand which I don't mind paying $3 a month.

Table Tennis TV looks interesting... they have the leagues and will have tutorial content from creators.

Gotta give credit to MLTT for continually pushing forward each season. Let's see how it goes!

MLTT website got a refresh...

I guess I can understand them wanting their own platform, but I actually prefer the YouTube model with its interactive livestream chat plus its ubiquitous access on TV, mobile, PC, streaming box, etc.
It's like when ESPN had rights to WTT for the US. I could watch on ESPN but I enjoyed chatting with others on YouTube.

I think using "free" and creating a wider audience should be its main priority - or at least that is what other leagues have been doing, especially in there earlier years.

I understand they need to make money, but investing into the fanbase is probably more important than profiting from them at this stage.

also, with MLTT being in the time zone it is, it is difficult to get European "live" viewers.
I don't think MLTT has an audience that are NBA mad, waking up in odd hours to watch it live.

so, when will the youtube model be no more?
