To keep this thread relevant to the forum, I recommend the 1995 Volvo 960.
I travelled all over the UK taking kids to tournaments. Twice ,I drove to France for tournaments. Very comfortable with a London taxi type turning circle, which came in very handy for the many times I either missed turns or simple went down wrong roads. As you may have figured out, it lacked sat nav. But had a great sound system, with both a CD and cassette player.

Satnav an CD player nowadays can be easily replaced with a phone so barely any inconvenience. The estate 960 is nice old funeral car in black. For sure it can swallow a few bodies in the trunk. I quite fancy the V70 too for looks, not sure if it came with the inline 5 Volvo diesel but that I would pick up for sure. I wonder why I didn't think of it before 😢😢😢
Also similar car could be the Honda accord estate with 2.2dtec, totally a funeral car but damn it's good looking and that diesel is maybe the best small diesel ever made.

Too bad 90s Japanese cars just rusted away or got owners who thought they are so bulletproof that they need no service.
Well, here we go again disagreein. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
My previous Corolla wagon , a 1.8l diesel , manual NEVER got a service I used good Motul oil and a filter every year and ran an injector cleaner with the diesel and did over 500 000km, it never missed a beat. The one I am running now has also NEVER gotten a service for 20 years. change oil and filter once a year, gave it a new belt at about 100 000kms and the mechanic who did the warrant inspection a month ago reckoned it was just nicely run in now. I think I'll buy it a set of new wipers as a treat soon. :ROFLMAO:

Actually, we are in no disagreement on the service. Oil, filters are the normal services every car needs. And you gave that to your Corolla, which is good practice.

I am talking about people who didn't give these to their cars, no regular oil and filter or belt changes etc. Ofc clutch or brake disks etc also are included.

So you're only disagreeing with the terms of what a service means, and for sure not disagreeing with me. Hey, if you do your service yourself, it's still a service. I also don't go to any station to do me' oil and filter or belt change, I don't trust most stations with a bulb change.
I don't want to offend any service station worker, but I'd rather take my car to them in private than in the service station. (I mostly do my car jobs with my dad, but I don't trust service stations; but I would trust most good mechanics who work there, but in their private garage.)

Also Mr. Lodro, why Motul? I have no issues with Motul I also think it's pretty good. But why not Castrol or Shell Helix or Eneos or whatever orgre piss you have down under where the oil drains clockwise :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:

Glad we agree 🙂
Now the reason i was running motul is twofold.First reason is that I was using motul on my model helicopters i was flying at the time and i loved the smell of it . The second reason was that I was good friend with the local motorbike shop owner who gave me a good price.
On the petrol driven engine corolla i got now I have always been running Castrol Magnatec, nothing special i am sure but it does the job.

I also have no confidence in service-shops. People like us who know what is involved in an simple oil and filter change know that the prices they charge in the garages is just a rip off.

Mr Lodro, you are a really good sport. I enjoy talking to you since you always take my comments in the best possible way, even if some are very dubious.
Tho unfortuantely we never met eachother but I feel like we have some kindred soul and even if we are from a different bitrth generation and geological area that is really fckng amazing.

I also think Motul is pretty fine, tho the smell I'm not sure about but it's a valid way to test any chemical or lubricant. If you said total or elf or BP blabla I would have said the same question and having a trusty rep is great.

In my country Castrol and Valvoline was counterfeited for years so I an avoiding them like the plague until now. I know both are excellent if valid, but I'd rather take valid Total than fake ukrainian/russian used MTZ oil "re-newed".

Why I 90% take Shell Helix over anything is that it's made from metane gas. Shell makes the correct length carbohydrate chain for the necessary application.
They can make the perfect chain for every application and they are really cheap too. Both their motor oil and axle or gear oils as well.

My dear young friend you completely misunderstand :ROFLMAO: it is not the smell of the oil as it comes out of the bottle but the smell of the exhaust gas that did it to me. When one hovers a model heli one normally points it into the wind which then of course blows the exhaust gases straight towards the pilot. Therefore it is better to have something that is smelling nice and sweet. 😁

I had a friend who worked for a japanese oil company and they once brought out a 2stroke oil with a strawberry smell for the scooters but it did not catch on.

Ahhh got you now. Fair enough. Also why am I not surprised the Japanese have thought of this kind of solution either. I'm not entirely sure but I think they also "grow" the square melon and they had the clear (transparent) coke too. And I suppose these are the less weird stuff they have over there.

In my previous shitbox of a car I used to put half a deciliter of 2T oil in the diesel for the high-pressure pump and injectors. At least I didn't have any issues with the fuel system. 🥹

You are absolutely correct, there is plenty more weird coming out of japan 😂

Never heard of this trick but hei, if it works it works. I will remember it for my next diesel car. Might get another bottle of the good Motul oil then maybe my car will also smell nice 😂
