European Rating to USA Rating

I would like some help estimating the rating between the two. Someone from the 8th German League is coming to my area to play for awhile and I'm just curious what his estimated "skill level" would be around.

Thanks!

Dear Dang,

I was wondering exactly the same. In Holland we have a Website (ttstats.nl or ttkaart.nl) on which you can see ask the results of all competition players. Before a match it is very easy to check the rating of players or a team to be prepared for what is coming for you. Does anyone know if there is a international website where this can be checked?

I've looked at the ettu.org ratings but I've no idea the comparison to the usa ratings. I just have this idea that usa rates players higher

I think you are right. I think someone did a thread a while ago where it looked like 1900 in ETTU rating was around 2400 in USATT rating. I am not entirely sure of the numbers. But it was something like that.

its simple : you cant compare different things so you cant know the true accurate answer. If china and usa use the exact same rating system and we compare two players the result will not be accurate. We cannot neither to an approximate "estimation"

Lets say we have the pro chinese player who plays 20 games and the usa pro player who plays 20 games also against players with the exact rating difference between them

Now if they have they same results lets say 5 wins and 15 losses and are ranked 15th in their league for example...
If t he chinese player comes to play in the usa probably will crush all of them ranking first in the rating system.

if the usa player plays to china most likely he will end up 20th in the rating system so there you go! You cant have a clear image even between the same rating system because the opponents are different.

Now in general Europe has better players than USA, I dont mean to be a "racist" or "elitist" here its just that in USA table tennis is not so developed.

This fact of course doesnt mean that a guy from the 8th (lol! how many leagues do they have) will be a complete noob or a very promising player.

So just watch his results and then you will know :p

haha! I just needed an estimation, I know that the skill levels from Europe and China are way above USA. No need to crush everything with such a long response.

I figured that a rated 1300 in Europe is most likely around 1500-1600 here in USA. My question was what rating range would a 8th League German player is either here in USA or Germany so I have at least some sort of idea of his "estimated skill level"

8th league in Germany could be Bezirksklasse, and that range is 1800-2100 USATT, so not really a newb by USA standards at all if he is an middle of the road Bezirksklasse... Below is what dude wrote on his post at OOAK. 1300 German system could very well be mid 1500s

Here some estimated domains of the TTR for the German leagues - whereby the names of the leagues differ in the different regions of germany. Here I mention the leagues of the WTTV region:

1.Bundesliga (2300-2700)
2.Bundesliga (2000-2400)
Regionaliga (1900-2200)
Oberliga (1800-2100)
Verbandsliga (1700-2000)
Landesliga (1650-1950)
Bezirksliga (1600-1900)
Bezirksklasse (1500-1750)
Kreisliga (1400-1650)
1. Kreisklasse (1350-1550)
2. Kreisklasse (1300-1500)
3. Kreisklasse (1200-1450)
Hobbyklasse (1000-1400)

Im not sure about these ratings.

I was estimated around 1800, lets say people who beat me 3-0 easily are 2000, people who beat them easily 3-0 are 2200.
2200 would be the top of Regionaliga.
They player in blue in this video, is a player who would beat the players 3-0 that beat me 3-0 on most occasions, he only is a reserve player in his regionaliga team.

So either my estimated rating was way off, or these ratings are doubtfull ;)

ps. the player in blue normally plays better, but they lost this match 9-0.
