  1. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Just playing against inverted players, FH rubber wears more than BH rubber. This already annoys me to be honest. But playing against pips even exacerbates the wear on the FH side. Now I really don't like this.

BTW, Floyd Mayweather is one of the best boxers of all time. Literally no professional boxer was ever able to beat him, or even pose a serious threat to him. Now he goes around making $10 million just for boxing exhibition matches against youtube influencers who have no chance of winning...
  3. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Well both things can be true at the same time without being contradictory. Playing against LP can be beneficial for your game. and it can also be frustrating if you like your rubber setups the way I do. So I decided to create an extra spare racket with an old rubber pair just for specific use...
  4. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

I completely agree with you that looping with underspin is less damaging to the rubber than looping against the spin. That is not the point I am making. I am saying that playing against LP, 99% of loops (with the spin and against the spin) are with the FH. And probably 75% of all shots in...
  5. US Open 2022

Hey Victor, I thought you're rating was over 2200. Why are you able to play in the U2000 event? Although all the other players look better than 2000 as well.
  6. Ayano vs Tawny Banh

I have been to ASLT just to watch, but have never played there. Some friends play there though. Never played at UCSD, but I have some UCSD student friends who play there. And a friend coaches the UCSD club. I usually play at community rec centers here and there.
  7. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

If you say so. I'm using H3 provincial on the FH side. I feel i'm always hitting hard loops with the FH against pips, but just making a few gentle pushes or blocks with the BH. Just like how a car puts more wear on the front tires for FWD, I feel the FH rubber gets worn out faster. Against...
  8. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Another thing I really hate about playing against LP is that I feel that it wears out the FH looping rubber a lot more than the BH rubber, which is not particularly engaged against LP. I feel like it ruins your beautiful racket setup.
  9. Ayano vs Tawny Banh

oh cool! if you are ever down in SD, let's have a hit!
  10. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Sure, if you are in SD let's have some sessions.
  11. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

When I serve underspin to LP, I notice that it often comes back high and dead. I feel like I should be able to attack this ball, but I was pretty conservative with dealing with this ball. I'm afraid of smashes falling into the net, and I'm afraid of loops going long. Somehow this ball is...
  12. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Yeah You are probably right. I will practice more. I notice vs LP, there are a lot of "half balls" where the spin isn't up or down, the length isn't quite long or short. So I think playing LP shows you many more balls that you don't see in standard inverted rubber matches. What are your ways...
  13. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Well I wrote in a later post that he was a two wing style player, and suddenly changed to LP 2 weeks ago. So he has far more experience playing loop style than LP style. Actually I wasn't particularly good at LP style, but I just let the rubber do the work for me and watch my opponent make...
  14. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Also, it's interesting to note that this guy was originally a two wing attack style around a solid 1500. He suddenly changed to LP style, and suddenly started beating 1700 and 1800 guys (although he hasn't beaten me yet). This shows that a lot of folks out there are just totally unprepared to...
  15. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Yeah I guess I should practice more against LP, but I just don't enjoy the game as much against two wing players. I like the sensation of blocking and countering with my backhand. I like the backhand to backhand rallies. Well I'm not surprised that I struggle against LP, because it's a...
  16. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

I also notice that if I loop to their LP and they slice it back, it will have ridiculously high spin. It's completely not worth the risk to attempt to loop this 2nd ball. Any advice on how to handle this 2nd ball? It seems the 3rd ball has even more spin if I loop the 2nd ball.
  17. Bloom Power:Still Available?

Bloom Power comes in 45 and 47 hardness. The 47 Hardness is close to Chinese 40d hardness. Jupiter 3 and Battle 2 come in 38d to 40d hardnesses. So the sponge hardness depends on which hardness you choose. I'm not sure about the topsheet hardness, but my impression is that the Jupiter 3 topsheet...
  18. Bloom Power:Still Available?

The cheapest option, it was $3.50 I think.
  19. Bloom Power:Still Available?

You know, I bought a Bloom Power from PrinceTT last month, and it arrived in about 10 days I think. Maybe it was 1 week. I also thought it would take 3 months, but it came quick. But maybe that is specific to USA.
  20. Basic advice on knowing spin from long pips?

Just as a fun experiment, I switched rackets against a long pips player today just to see how the game would go if we reverse roles. Normally I'm the attacker, and its always a tiring and stressful game. It's really not fun playing against long pips defender. Well I've never even held a long...
