So Ma Long is having a rest today as he played his QF match yesterday while Zhang Jike is playing singles now and also the doubles with Xu Xin 2 hours later because Ma Long with Timo Boll are out already.

What is your guys opinion. Do you think it'll put Zhang Jike in disadvantage having to play two matches today while Ma Long is resting before tomorrow's SF because it might be a bit too strenuous for him while Ma Long can take some time and rest. Or maybe rather Zhang Jike will keep in the "zone" and more determined having played singles and doubles now and being more prepared for tomorrow SF? It is quite possible that Zhang Jike could be a little bit more tired than Ma Long tomorrow especially after playing the doubles later on today.

What do you mean by rest today?

All 4 quarter finals was played today. And the semis will be played tomorrow. That means they played 1 match each. No one gets a days extra rest. Only a few hours, since Ma Long played earlier than Zhang Jike.

Of couse Zhang Jike will have to play doubles final later, so that means even less rest. Besides his shoulder issues he looks in great shape. Always topping at the great events. So mentally strong. Impressive how he keeps doing it.

Blessing in disguise. Ding Ning won because of her own injury.
The injury time totally throws Liu Shiwen concentration and focus off.
Hate to say this, but I think Liu Shiwen deserve to win a bit more.
For me, myself, I "hate" to play someone that is injured or sick, if you know that kind of feeling.

Congrats to Ding Ning and for her will to keep fighting, but... in my opinion it is not nice victory.

I can imagine how hard for Liu it has to be to keep fighting when you know that Ding Ning is being a hero with every win or lost point.
And knowing that if you even will win everybody after championship would say your opponent was injured so she couldn't show her best...

So this isn't a way to win championships, but still congrats to winner.

Congratulations to Ding Ning!

Ding Ning is the 2015 World Champion defeating compatriot Liu Shiwen in a full 7 sets! What a final, it had absolutely everything!

When you are "limping", you totally make yourself the underdog. And that's is a super advantage against your opponent. Liu Shiwen knowing that she "MUST WIN" against Ding Ning at this rate has a lot of pressure, and that's totally throw her off. In some way or another, "tactics" that tell that the whole world that you are injured and sick is a kind of "dirty strategy". Not saying Ding Ning is faking or purposely limping and showing her agony face, but stuff like this gives her a lot of advantage when the momentum was on the other side of the table. All and all, this is not a beautiful victory.

it is "expedition system" - http://www.ittf.com/ittf_handbook/ittf_hb.html
basically, if set takes too long, player that serves must win in limited number of returns, otherwhise he loses a point.

mostly useful against defenders, who can just return ball, and this system forces players to go more aggressive and risky.
in this case system is probably useless - rallies are much shorter than 12 shots.
