Here a short summery of the important statements of the Interview at mytischtennis.de. Right now i sadly don t have the time to translate the hole arcticle.
Plastic balls:
There definetly is a problem. That is why there where a lot of meetings with players and officials in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the issue.
Manfucturer promised that:
a)sufficient Quantity soon
b)Quality improvement
c)balls get cheaper by about 30%
World Championships
- are getting to big and there is a lot of trouble organizing and finding an appropriate location
- they are getting restructured in 2019/20
World tour is getting restructured which has already started
Criticism on the WM in Kuala Lumpur:
air conditioner is old and there where 2 options:
- play with no air condition and 40 degrees
-play with "wind" in the hall
The original hall was banned so they had to improvise with tents or call of the hole WM
profound regulatory changes soon?
Maybe tone down the service advantage? For more rallys and less service - receive mistakes
TV wants: more actual playing time
better predictable play time
test things like:
-play with many balls form the referee
- last set with tiebreak
- ending the set at a predestined point after 10:10
Tuneing/Boosting:
there are 2 partys who are trying to come up with a testing method for tuneing
-the german professor Hubert Motschmann
-the japanese suggested another method
After the WM the ITTF is going to decide if they continue to test or change the rules so subsequent treatment of the rubber is allowed!
