Most of us in our network are working and also have a family. While we love to play matches, we are unable to spend the whole weekends playing tournaments.
We are trying out a variant of a Ladder format. We create an event and agree upon a time frame say one month. Players sign up for the tournament, and they are all listed. Here are a few rules we have thought of
- Initially, everyone has 0 points
- a player can challenge another player who is within +-5 points
- on winning a match a player gets 3 points and the loser gets 1 point
- the players decide among themselves and play at a venue they choose at a timing that is convenient to them
- after the match, they submit the score.
- at the end of three weeks, the top four players are chosen, and they play a knockout format ( semi-finals and finals)
We are hoping that this makes it easier for players to play regularly, and also, they get to play with different skill levels.
Does this sound interesting? Can you think of any other rules that we can add to make it enjoyable for all players?
Please let me know your thoughts and any other suggestions you may have.
