These two have chance. But if I have to pick one out of three, Ma is the one. He is goat after all. The way he has handled all the ones he faced, Ma looked fresh, relaxed and determined.
No doubt, you can pick Ma Long, but the other two players are pretty strong, to me it is at least a 3 way race and I would rank Ma Long at the bottom vs the others because it is very different playing teammates who understand your game (see Zeng Beixun) vs playing foreigners who you have been drilled and instructed on how exactly to play against them over many years. Xiang is the only outsider and he isn't chopped liver either.

If I want to bet on a player to win the whole thing, Ma Long is the one. A field without FZD and WCQ, don't see anyone can stop him.
It's good to be positive.

ML: 0/16 WTT MS titles...
LJK: Still WTT.

Like women side, we have all Chinese semi on men.

Not only all Chinese in the semi, they also have two young blood in LSD and XP, to the delight of Chinese coaches.

This tournament is indeed a breakout moment for XP. He beat all non-Chinese players including two of the best in Felix and Moregard on route to the semi.

His semi opponent? Non other than LSD, his peer competitor.

XP and LSD are from the same young class. LSD was known for his fearsome backhand but weak forehand. XP had an all around game with solid forehand. Hence, early on XP was regarded as the top prospect of the class.

Of course, we know, in the last few years, LSD has grown tremendously. He has greatly enhanced his forehand, reduced unforced errors while maintaining his awesome backhand, making him a complete player with devastating loops from both sides.

XP's main improvement seems from his confidence and willingness to use his backhand, less relying on his forehand. Also he is more willing to take risk offensively.

It will be great collision between the two.

You can think 0/16 is an extra motivation for the goat.
Given the fact, the field has already narrowed down to the final 4, Ma Long only needs to beat LJK and handles one of two young players, the odds is good for him.

ML handles LJK well most of the time. XP's style presents no threat to ML. Only player that can pose a threat is LSD. Can ML's vast experience get him his WTT MS title? I'll take the odds.

Good to stay positive, once again. ML has reached the MS final 5 times and stopped at SF 3 times. This could be his best chance to have a crack.

Definitely not the same class, Lin is younger. It is like saying LGY and FZD are the same class.

Once again, first convince those (not just anybody, but from the field of table tennis) to stop telling CIC to stay out of the way of the young generation.

Will you keep on bashing WTT for the rest of your life? 你日屌夜屌嚟都多㞗餘,WTT班友睬㞗你都有味。
bashing WTT on its bad
I also talk of its good

Now let’s hear you talk about Ito’s or Ishikawa’s good 😊

Agree. LSD is far more well rounded than XP.

Just think about it, it took the world’s No.1 WCQ to take ONE SET of LSD in the last tournament 🤣🤣🤣

Most people lost 0-4 fast

Watched the XP vs Truls match and it was super exciting. I'm surprised that Truls actually lost, but anyone on the CNT is always a threat regardless. I really like Truls' serve/receive game, his BH variation and the big FH loopkill. It really looks increasingly Ma Long like.

Xiang Peng I feel still has the BH issue where he doesnt take his wrist sufficiently back on the BH (it doesnt point to his stomach) resulting in a loss of explosiveness compared to someone like LSD. But his physicality and FH still got him to win regardless.

Im definitely expecting LSD vs Ma Long final this time.

I take it you were also in vigilante mode whenever you bashed the so-called unfair advantage gained by the dubious practices of the CNT for actually putting in the manpower and resources, all through your anecdotal evidence.

So where were you when Ito, CIC and CSY signed up for WTT FEE Fremont 2022 and WTT FEE Westchester 2022 but were blocked by the PDR (6 from Top 31-50 only), yet CIC and CSY were subsequently given WS entries by the WTT Nomination (at the sole discretion of WTT) (04/29/2022 at 3:30pm)? Where was your scrutiny for possible collusion among WTT, USATT (headed by Virgina Sung who was born in China) and CTTTA? 唔該現實啲,唔好撚再喺度扮聖母,好撚假。

Talk about Ito's good? I've talked plenty, and you were also in my thread about Li Sun praising Ito back in 2018. But has Ito been anything good since WTTC 2021, in which she claimed she had had enough of WS and wanted to play WD only? Only to hang on to WS and abandon WD after WTTC 2023. And after losing the race to Hirano, what did she do to get back at everyone? And Ishikawa? She is enjoying the best of her life after retirement, going on a nationwide tour, reporting Paris 2024, making public appearances etc. What does it have to do with competitive table tennis?

So hard!

Absolutely! When I was watching that match I keep thinking about how Moregard reminds me of Ma Long with his service and BH variations plus a big FH. A lot of those types of skills are not pure athleticism dependent, so I wonder if he can continue to step up his game in his mid-20s like ML did.

As for XP's BH compared to LSD's, LSD actually has a relatively small backswing as well, but XP takes it to a different level. I think that actually equips XP to better deal with LSD's extremely fast BH. I think their match may not be as one sided as some might think. The last time these 2 played on the international stage seems to be in 2022, when interestingly each had a 4-0 victory over the other.

I don't know why and how people can confidently write off Big Chubby. It had been done too often with poor results.
ML I think is an underdog in that match, LJK really steps it up against teammates. ML will need to pull a rabbit out of his hat to get past him IMO.

XP BH is a bit Fang Bo like which imo handicaps him a bit way too much especially against modern BH players like LSD. He intentionally aims it a lot and there is a general lack of smoothness in the fingers/supination/wrist movement as he tries to 'fix' them too much instead of just letting it rip to produce huge spin. I would be really surprised if he wins against LSD.

Dude
You been calling for retirement before wtt even existed.
Your logic is really flawed. Stop trying to justify your actions because of me, you been doing this for decades.
Just admit it, you have a thing for 23 year old Japanese girls retirement!

These are top players that are really good, way better than you. No matter how or what Ishikawa has done for TT over the years, they achieved heights that you will never reach as a couch potato, oh I mean JNT head coach.

You ever wonder why a couple of forum members here said you should retire? I can be joking about wang32 should retire, but you make it your daily bread to diss the Japanese girls.

PS, I was never a Ito fan and I disagree with a lot of things she does, but she has a damn good player. Now do you agree, or you think you still the god you want to be?

Some of the dumbest table tennis I have seen Harimoto play - he really needs to work on his mindset. Long serves, repeatedly opening to the backhand after Truls had proven he could counter with the punch... good match but dumb play.
Eventually most players fall into bad habits when the going gets tough.
