Although the three remaining players finished level with one win each after competing against eachother, the decision as to who would gain the final place was not determined on the accepted games ratio or points ratio principal.

A further round of matches was to follow, this time with a difference. In the first round of matches the reigning world junior champion Fan Zhendong managed to raise some eyebrows with a 3-1 win over Wang Hao (12-10, 6-11, 11-9, 11-4) Wang Hao then bounced back from defeat as he was able to overcome Hao Shuai in three straight games (11-2, 11-7, 12-10) Fan Zhendong was looking like the firm favourite with a two game lead against Hao Shuai, however Shuai recovered well going on to win the next three games gaining a five game success.

If China were to go on game ratio it would mean that Wang Hao would claim the final spot however China do things a different way and insisted on the three players playing again but this time only one game.

The first match was unbelievable as Wang Hao trail 3-9 against Fan Zhendong, however Wang Hao’s experience shone through as he managed to win the next six points before securing the win 14-12, Fen Zhendong then went on to beat Hao Shuai 11-9 before Wang Hao also secured a win again Shuai 11-9.

This meant that Wang Hao had secured himself the well deserved fifth and final place for the forthcoming Liebherr World Table Tennis Championships in Paris.
