The Chinese women’s team which consisted of DING Ning, LI Xiaoxia and WU Yang demonstrated their sheer class and talent at the Times Property World Team Classic final in the city of Guangzhou on the afternoon of Sunday 31st of March. With China being the favourites to take the gold they were able to gain a 3-0 match win over the Japanese trio of Ai Fukuhara, Kasumi Ishikawa and Sayaka Hirano in little over an hour.

On route to the final China overcame, the Netherlands and the USA in the group stages before defeating Germany in the quarter-finals and Hong Kong in the semi-finals, throughout the tournament the Chinese women’s team didn’t drop any matches to their opponents proving why they were the favourites to stand on top of the podium. The only set the talented team lost was in their match against Hong Kong where LI Xiaoxia overcame NG Wing Nam 3-1.

Well done to the Chinese Women’s team on their fantastic team victory, with the 2013 World Table Tennis Championships creeping up on us it will be interesting to see whether any of these finalists will manage clinch the Women’s title in Paris.
