the general conclusion, that c48 is slower than r48 is true, but it’s not only because its (very slightly) tacky surface. The main difference is the pimple structure and the used topsheet material, that makes c48 a lot slower, a little harder feel and much higher throw.

Both rubbers are made for different playing styles: r48 is more the older European style with longer swings and more far away from the table. C48 on the other hand is made for more modern style, near the table with shorter swings and counters.

This „modern“ and „older“ mainly describes professional players. From my point of view, by far the lot amateurs (perhaps 95%?) are not able to play this „modern style“, as they are neither good enough nor quick enough.

Therefore most players are mich better off with „old style“ rubbers
