Dignics 05 vs Tenergy 05 Hard

Hi people!

For the last ten years, I have been playing with Teneregy 05 on my FH. My games relies in generating a lot of spin on looping and decent drives during rallies. But recently, I have been trying to incorporate counter-attack in my game but it seems difficult with Tenergy 05 on my FH. Even if I'm slightly out of position or not bending properly, the ball would go somewhere. Few days back, I tried Dignics 05 and Tenergy 05 Hard for counter-attacks and it worked well for me. I was able to easily attack others loop as the ball stuck longer on my rubber. Considering my game style, which rubber would you suggest? I am trying to evolve my game:)

Thank you!

Counter style is quite good with 47.5d when close to the table. When you take even half a step back 50d rubbers are better. Considering this you might find TO5H unforgiving, while D05 gives more gears and support during these balls.

Obviously hybid and tacky rubbers are even better, you could look into D09C

Hello all, what exactly is the advantages/disadvantages of T05 hard and D05 on the forehand side? I've used D05 extensively on backhand but never forehand. Would be interested in trying it out though.
Currently using D09c and I struggle with getting good pressure when hitting against higher level players (2000+) as I know I'll never be the strongest hitter.

Just twiddle the D05 that you already have to the FH and test it out yourself?

I've done that before but I'm asking specifically how it'll compare to t05h. Since I don't use and no one I know uses I can't make an assumption on it.

T05 Hard has a totally different feeling to D05. If you like hard Chinese rubbers, you'll like T05 Hard. It's very fast also.
Wtf have hard Chinese rubbers to do with t05 hard? They're polar opposites.

T05 hard has slightly lower throw than t05 and needs more power or else it slips from the topsheet, you need to activate the sponge in order to make proper use of it. Chinese rubbers have tackiness that makes them far easier to use because there's simply no way that the ball is simply gonna slip off the topsheet. Plus the feeling is completely different.

There are differences, of course. But I think there are many ways in which they feel similar and allow you to play similar shots.

T05 Hard and Chinese rubbers both have a hard sponge, and I think that affects the playing properties a lot. T05 Hard also has a lower throw angle than other EuroJap rubbers, and this feels like Chinese rubber to me. The hard sponge means that the ball does not dig into the sponge very much, and so you can play soft touches around the net without worrying too much about the spin. The low throw angle (and my penhold grip) lets me take the ball very close to the ground and topspin it up onto the table -- the kind of shot that Xu Xin does a lot.

Dignics 09c is about the same hardness as T05 Hard but the throw angle is much higher. For this reason I feel very uncomfortable with D09c even though it is tacky and hard like Chinese rubbers.

I don't know how to explain it more than that: I like Chinese rubber and I have been using them for the past couple years. I've tried a lot of EuroJap rubbers (including Mark V, Rozena, Fastarc, Bluefire, T05, T05FX, D05, D80, D09c) and the only ones that I have felt comfortable with are Tenergy 05 Hard and Rasanter C53. It seems to me that players who like Chinese rubber will also like T05 Hard (and also Rasanter C53, check it out!).

Wanna ask experts here: at what ranking level at the minimum can one start to use Tenergy 05 Hard, the ultimate forehand rubber?

What sort of blade pair best with it? Help pls...
By the time you are good enough for t05h you would prefer d09c. Forget about that shit.

I got notes on each of these that I would like to share.

Dignics 05 has a high and short trajectory, it’s good for short and snappier FH techniques. With longer follow thru the quality becomes quite weak.

D09c I need to aim as if I am pressing down the ball into the bottom of the net, and still sometimes if I don’t quite match up the speed within +/-20% it goes out by a mile.

With T05H I would start with a more open face while focusing on perfect friction and impact to arc the ball in. Matching ball spin is most important unless you choose violence and Truls slap it.

The notes are quite reasonable. I wouldn't agree on D05, it largely depends on proximity to the table. D09c is definitely the spinniest but also requires the most effort to use. I think most high level rally players who like hard sponge and don't care much for the control will prefer T05H. Because it lacks tack, you need to set the angle early. D05 is a very balanced rubber that lets you play all the shots when you compare it to the other two. The topsheet grip is much higher than it often gets credit for. Very much in between D09c and T05H in some ways but also a very distinct rubber because those are specialized offensive rubbers while D05 enables a broader range of shots and is easier to generate a combo of high spin and speed with than the others because of softer sponge.

with regards to the open face angle, would not the ball over-shoot the table. This is my experience with counter-looping. I need to brush the ball at around 12 or 1 o'clock position to get the Magnus effect to bring the ball into the table. I have been experimenting with this very close angle brush looping and so far my result has been very favourable. The ball is much much more spinny compared to my previous flat hitting / smash and my opponent has a harder time blocking as the ball kick up much more than the usual flat-hitting. I am currently using Vega Europe a relatively soft rubber compared with T05H.

Will T05H be better at this effect? To be clear, I wish to know, will T05H enhance this effect if my skill level remain the same as current level?

What you are referring to is probably due to our slight differences in technique when we attempt our counterloop, but in general, Vega Europe can absorb(wrap?) the ball and create mechanical spin inside(within?) the softer sponge better than the harder sponged T05H.

How I explain it is the counterloop is a natural extension of your drive. The more stable and reliable your FH drive framework is, the less adjustments needed to perform the technically most advanced skill of counterloop, otherwise you would just keep performing a shortened version of your drive against a loop i.e. block.

Using your example, if you transitioned to T05H today I feel you would not get the same kick you currently have with Vega Europe as there is significantly less help from the sponge to create the spin that is kicking up on your opponents side. You would effectively be relying on spin being generated solely from the Tenergy topsheet before the hard responsive sponge kicks in.

However if you are willing to put in the hours maybe you can get to the stage where you can get the perfect friction and impact each and every time and reap the benefits.

Personally, it was too demanding for me to keep at it, maybe it’s the “one” for you 😀

The way you put it means Vega Europe is still the one for me....

I think this is somewhat correct -- for any fixed level of input power.

If you counterloop with the same strength on both rubbers, Vega Europe will produce more "kick" effect than T05H. But you can still get a kick effect with T05H -- you just need to hit harder and feel more stable in your stance.

Moreover, if you're counterlooping very spinny balls then T05H has a higher ceiling. Vega Europe will bottom out pretty easily (you might want this to happen since you're playing with hinoki and enjoy the feeling of the wood). But with T05H you can dig into the sponge with more force, and ultimately get a bigger "kick". The bigger kick comes at the expense of requiring more strength.

Yep totally agree, hence my notes stating I needed to focus on perfect friction and ball impact so the unique attributes of the rubber could shine.

Alas, 2 or 3 amazing shots followed with twice the number of unforced errors isn’t fun for me. D09c suits me much better
