Anyone know why Xiaona Shan and Xia Lian Ni didn’t play in this tournament?
Xiaona Shan played the Olympics under some amount of pain and afterwards decided to skip some events to have a less packed schedule to recover. She withdrew from Champions Macao and was never listed for European Champs, prioritizing China Smash and the upcoming Champions events in Europe.

Felix single was disqualified with a 0-4 loss
That's kind of funny.

ETTU: Felix, you must be punished for your unsporting actions.
Felix: (head hanging low,) OK, je comprende.
ETTU: For this highly disrespectful action you must lose this match.
Felix: But I did lose the match. That's why I threw the racket .
ETTU: No Felix, there's no point in arguing, this must be the outcome.
Felix: (trying hard not to laugh) OK, I have learned my lesson.
😂

I wonder if they'd thave disqualified him if he'd won?
I can't imagine they would as to throw the racket in celebration is a completely different action and can easily be justified as an unfortunate mistake.
So basically there's no punishment for unsporting behaviour, unless they fined him too? I hope they at least took the cost of the screen from him!

Maybe ranking points penalties? Does a DQ mean no ranking points for the tournament or just that particular round (meaning he would only gain the equivalent of R16).

also to note, he probably got the lessen sentence, as Felix could of been DQ from the whole event.

3.5.2.8 The referee shall have power to disqualify a player from a match, an event or a competition for seriously unfair or offensive behaviour, whether reported by the umpire or not; as he or she does so he or she shall hold up a red
card; for less serious offenses which do not justify disqualification, the referee may decide to report such an offense to the ITTF Integrity Unit.

or if he has another red card offense that would result in full DQ from event.

3.5.2.10 The referee may disqualify for the remainder of a competition anyone who has twice been sent away from the playing area during that competition.

OK, so a heavy punishment after all!
heavy and soft in a way. not heavy enough.

Personally I would like to see points being banned, like what Aruna has experienced, as DQ from event is really soft.
ie if he did it in continental, then his continental point should be banned from the count for a period of 1 year. Now that is proper repercussion

I see where you're coming from although I'm personally kinda happy that they didn't do too much as he's still only a kid.
His older brother seems to have matured a lot in the past yr and he only turned 21 in August.
Felix just turned 18 last month.....my god when I think of myself at that age 😂
Hopefully it's a stiff enough punishment that it helps him learn

well, they probably don't look at age, since this isn't a children's event.
I always saw alex is the one with bigger anger management issues, but some have told me felix is worse.
i think equally, the duo are very "wild" when comes to anger. I wonder what the rest of the family looks like.
Imagine crockery broken every week, or something like that? lol

I actually met Felix at Frankfurt last year and he was very shy and quiet, seemed very humble.
He was nice enough to pose for a picture with us. I'll attach them later if I can find them because one of my friends is 6'6" and Felix looks like a 12 yrs old boy beside him 😂
believe he's a very different person outside of competition, like many of them are, and animal at the table and a gentleman off it
I'm sure you're right about the tournament not considering age, and nor should they, I didn't mean to imply that it would be a factor for them.
I was more just thinking about how it's normal for kids that age to be impetuous and overly emotional so even though he should be punished like everyone else, it's more forgivable on a human level when (as a fan) you consider his age.

yeah, I hear you.
well, the pressure for "kids" being adults is a problem for me.
mind you, Felix isn't 14~16 like some others kids (I mean adults) out there.
but still, 18 is still very young.
I do hope the brothers handle the emo better as maturity kicks in. They going to cause a lot of problems for CNT in the coming decade for sure. The brute power these 2 have is something that Asians will never get

Pretty stupid move and not unexpected as both brothers seem hot-headed. But I've tossed my racket into my bag before too hard after a loss. So its easily done at that age when he was favourite to win.

Why does the umpire pick the racket up/take it off him afterwards though?
here is another tossing racket
umpire didn't help pick it up though
