Hello all,
My name is William, I've been playing for like 8 years now, currently injured though =[.
Best achievements were with my team 5th of the Netherlands in the under-18 class, and regional champ under-18 twice. Have to note that the strongest players under 18 play in the 18+ class and my region isn't quite the strongest haha. Next season I hope I'll be recovered so we can try to promote to the Dutch 3rd division.

Welcome Wiwa :)

Sorry to hear about your injury, what happened?

Thanks azlan and Dan, I got a hernia (idk if thats an English word haha). It is a back injury where a sinew gets trapped. So i can't lift my leg holding it straight for example, because the trapped sinew goes all the way into the leg and it would be too short. I think I'll have it operated cuz it is lasting too long now, I don't really trust that it will heal the natural way anymore. But it is not a risky operation, so that is good.

Thank you. For me it started in December, the day after last seasons final. So that is really the last occasion I played table tennis :p. I've had and MRI scan in February. If the problem is a hernia it should be clearly visible for someone who knows about it as far as I know. Two years is really long, what kind of injury is that? U haven't played this two years?

Don't worry about it William, its a pretty much a standard operation. Quite a few of my athlete friends had it, and they are back in training in no time. The same will be for you too...you'll be back competing before you know it. Good luck on the operation buddy...

Thanks my friend. Personally I am more afraid of the recovery than the operation. I know it is a standard operation, and there is no chance that it will have disastrous results. But I am afraid for the problem to return, I kinda lost faith in my own back. It will take a while to restore that. I guess I just have to patient.

Hello Everyone!

I am Michal, I am from Slovak Republic.. and me and table tennis.. well.. I always was a multi - sport talent, whatever I began to do, I was very fast good at it..
At the age of 15 my friends called me to play pingpong,.. I asked: "What is pingpong???" .. I had no idea that there is such sport..
I got my ass spanked as I lost 21:0 .. hehe..
One year later I got my revenge 21:0 and since then I try to get better and better..
Too bad I was too old when I got to table tennis, and noone wanted to train me seriously.. I got to intrude into trainings of league players, they tolerate me somehow and I got better..
But since noone really trained me, I never got some .. good..

My best result is 9th place at Slovakian universiade, where all university students play for the Slovakian title, .. so 9th place is pretty awesome for non professional player :)

Now I try to play in some low leagues as I cant get higher, I am right handed all around player, I LOVE to play, I love all, offensive, defensive, I wish to get better..
I consider myself to be professional amateur .. since I beat almost every amateur and almost every professional beats me..

I won several amateur tournaments, but never had a chance in some pro..

So I think that is all about me..
Oh.. I am 28 years old, so I play now for 13 years.. :)

Hey Michal_Z :)
Welcome to the forum here!
You're a bit like me :) I started to play table tennis with the age of 14 and I was a little bit too old and they didn't want to parctice seriously wit me.. So, I set as achievement to practice on my own: doing serves, training with an other player, ... So that I can show how good I really am and of course to get better :D
Keep going on and don't give up :)

Cheers ;D
