ITTF-ATTU Asian Championships Tashkent 2026 will take place from 19 to 25 October 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
On 12 October 2024, at the General Assembly of the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU), held in Astana during the 2024 Asian Championships, Uzbekistan was selected to host the 29th Asian Table Tennis Championships in 2026.
The
Asian Table Tennis Championships-2026 will be organised by the
O‘zbekiston Respublikasi stol tennisi federatsiyasi (Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Uzbekistan) under the auspices of the
Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) and the
International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
Seven sets of medals will be awarded across men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team and women's team events.
Participants
The 2026 Asian Table Tennis Championships feature national teams and players representing Asian national table tennis associations.
The competition comprises seven events: men's and women's team, men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
In the team events, the top six teams from the 2025 Asian Championships qualify directly for the Champions Division. All other entered teams begin in the First Division, where two additional places in the Champions Division are at stake.
Playing Format
The championships are held in accordance with the rules of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and international competition regulations.
Team Events
The men's and women's team competitions are divided into two divisions: the Champions Division and the First Division.
First Division
The First Division includes all entered teams except the top six teams from the 2025 Asian Championships.
In the first stage, teams are drawn into groups of three or four. Each group plays a round-robin competition to determine the final group standings.
The group draw follows a modified snake seeding system.
In the second stage, the top two teams from each group advance to a single-elimination knockout stage. The two finalists qualify for the Champions Division.
For the second-stage draw, group winners are placed in the knockout bracket according to their seeding. Group runners-up are drawn into the opposite half of the bracket from their respective group winners.
Champions Division
Eight teams compete in the Champions Division: the top six teams from the 2025 Asian Championships and two qualifiers from the First Division.
The competition follows a single-elimination format, starting with the quarterfinals. The results determine the champions, silver medallists, two bronze medallists, as well as teams sharing fifth and seventh places.
Teams are seeded according to the October 2026 ITTF team rankings. The first and second seeds are placed in opposite halves of the draw. The third and fourth seeds are allocated by draw, while the remaining teams fill the available positions.
Each team match is played as a best-of-five contest, with the first team to win three individual matches declared the winner. The order of play is: A–X, B–Y, C–Z, A–Y, B–X.
Each individual match is played as best of five games (first to win three games).
Individual Events
The men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles events are played in a single-elimination knockout format.
All matches at every stage are played as best of five games (first to win three games).
Singles players are seeded according to the ITTF World Rankings for Week 42 of 2026 (12 October).
In men's, women's and mixed doubles, seeding is determined by the sum of the two players' ranking positions in the relevant ITTF individual rankings. In the event of a tie, additional criteria specified in the competition regulations apply.
Qualification for the 2027 World Championships
The 2026 Asian Championships serve as a qualification event for the 2027 World Table Tennis Championships (individual events) and the 2027 Doubles World Cup.
Asia has been allocated the following quotas for the World Championships:
- Men's singles — 27 places.
- Women's singles — 32 places.
- Men's doubles — 14 pairs.
- Women's doubles — 15 pairs.
- Mixed doubles — 14 pairs.
In men's singles, the 16 winners of the Round of 32 matches qualify, along with eight additional players determined through an extra qualification round. The remaining three places are allocated based on additional classification matches.
In women's singles, all 32 winners of the Round of 64 matches qualify.
In each doubles event, the eight winners of the Round of 16 matches qualify, along with four additional pairs from an extra round. The remaining quotas are allocated based on classification matches.
The champions in men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles also qualify for the 2027 Doubles World Cup.
