Yes It's a shame for players like Samsonov and Maze and Crisan and others. I think Gacina and Freitas have won something as a doubles pair, was it a medal (gold?) in the Euro championships of 2010 or 2011? We also saw Samsonov team with Ovtcharov in the last Euros.

You used to be able to play with who you liked in the worlds but this was stopped by ittf,, shame as vlad and zoran reached a world final ..be nice to see top euros playing together...

table tennis should be play in team and doubles. More exciting, hard to predict the winner. Why ITTF not to try like volleyball or football that during the game each team could change the player. For example Team A consist of Xu Xin, Adrien Mattenet, Kim Min Seok, Yan An against Team B consist of Ma Long, Jun Mizutani, Joo Se Hyuk, Timo Boll. The match is only double. Starting double Team A : Xu Xin/Mattenet vs Ma Long/Jun Mizutani. The winner is who get 50 point first. Each team could change the pair double during the match. in example when scored 10: 5, the match between Xu Xin/Kim Min Seok vs Ma Long/Jun Mizutani. At 12:10 between Xu Xin/Kim Min Seok vs Joo Sae Hyuk/Jun Mizutani. I think this team match would be exciting.

This is funny: China and Korea both didn't want the prize money. Then China wanted the prize money to go to Korean charities, and in the end Korea suggested the money should go to Chinese charities.
