He had a couple injuries back to back. He injured his foot right before Team's last year and after that he injured his back. Both of these injuries take months if not a little over a year to fully recover from especially the way the Chinese train. Put on top all of that he changed his blade, rubber, and some new techniques and you have a whole big mess that he has to push through. It'll take time, but I suspect a Wang Hao move very soon.

You can tell he hasn't injured his knee because he doesn't wear a brace like the others do. His back injury can be seen because he is not quite as powerful in his strokes as last year.

As for the rubber I believe he went from H3 Neo special tuned to Skyline 3 neo with blue sponge and from Tenergy 64 to Tenergy 05 on the backhand. I'm not sure about the blade though he has a DHS handle on a butterfly blade, but I don't remember what he had prior to that.

Chinese team don't abuse steroid but they do abuse their body lol.
Over using it is not a very good idea..

That depends on your interpretation. As a martial artist in the past (as I don't practice as much now) I used to train anywhere from 6-10 hours a day doing things that are far more exerting than some of the training the Chinese do. I would spend 1-2 hours a day sparring full contact with my classmates. So I don't really know if you could say they abuse their bodies. I believe that with the right mindset and proper use of technique and stretching your body can do almost anything.

Injuries for the most part aren't a result of over training. They're primarily an accident with improper technique. For instance with Ma's foot injury that is clearly a misuse of technique. Although I forget which foot was injured he did misstep in a shot to injure it.

So while it seems the Chinese are crazy when it comes to training, I believe it's simply a form of mind over matter.
