Ma Long's reverse sidespin serve

Hey ppl,
I have a question regarding to this video:

At min 1:39 you can see his serve really good from the front.
He is doing a reverse sidespin serve, so the ball actually should turn to the right but it's exactly the other way round. How is this possible?
Maybe they explain it in the video but i can't understand chinese, so can you explain how to do it?

He's making contact with the ball when he swings the bat towards himself, then he swings the bat away which makes the serve look like a reverse when it's not, its just the action that makes it looks the same.
