Congratulations to the Portland Paddlers. Though the top team in the league in standings, they were missing a number of their top players, but somehow managed to win. And everyone of the players contributed. Jens was solid both yesterday and today. With his team down 4 points, Nikhil Kumar swept Edward Ly to narrow the Gold Rush's lead to 8-7 vs. 9-6. That was huge as the margin of victory at the end was 21-18. Kotomi didn't play great in the singles matchup but getting a game. However, in the Golden game matched up against offensive beast Enzo Angles, she held her own getting 3 of 8 points. Sid Naresh held his own in the Golden Game against dangerous pips penholder Chen Sun. And Carlos Hernandez, though he got swept by Enzo Angles, he went 5-2 against Kai Zhang in the Golden Game. What an effort from an understaffed team!

I remember it was mentioned I think from @Tony's Table Tennis that you gotta pay for your own flights there and only match day the hotel is covered. Has things changed for the next season?

If you are a top tier player the league will be willing to compensate better than if you are a low tier player. Nobody has to pay for their own flights there though for some players there may be a limit to the stipend.

As I mentioned in a thread a while back, there are also things that are paid generously by some team owners separately from the league.

The players are reimbursed for the majority of the flight costs, if not all, and the accommodations are covered, that has been consistent since the beginning.

There are a lot of people traveling in, France/Europe to America is not bad, from Asia is.

Professional clubs cover the flight in full and would cover hotel bills in full should the player arrive few extra days early.

in MLTT, they only subsidies to a certain percentage (there is a cap, but they will never pay in full) on the flight.... and for hotels, only for the eve of the match. If you arrive an extra day early, then it is at your own cost. This is a problem for Asian players and I did raise it as the time zone differences is double of Europeans, but it remains as is.... hopefully it will change in the future when they are able to get more resources
