No Timo Boll in WTTTC 2012??

I am not that good at german language, so I am not sure if I understood this right..
This is what Timo Boll wrote on his official facebook page..

Mit Blick auf die bevorstehenden Mannschafts-Weltmeisterschaften habe ich heute meine Teilnahme an den Deutschen Meisterschaften abgesagt. Nach einer im Training aufgetretenen Sehnenreizung im Schulterbereich meines linken Schlagarms habe ich mich eingehend mit Bundestrainer Jörg Roßkopf beraten und mich zu dieser Vorsichtsmaßnahme entschlossen.

Nachdem ich noch am vergangenen Freitag im Europapokal-Viertelfinale meiner Borussia gegen Stella Sport La Romagne vor allem gegen den Chinesen Chen Tianyuan sehr ordentlich bgespielt habe, kamen in den letzten Tagen während des Nationalmannschaftslehrgangs die Schmerzen immer stärker auf.

Ich hätte sehr gerne in Berlin gespielt und dort Basti Steger den Titel wieder abgerungen. Aber ich darf mit Blick auf Dortmund nichts riskieren.

Vor der WM (25.3. bis 1.4. in der Dortmunder Westfalenhalle) werde ich noch die beiden Begegnungen im Europapokal-Halbfinale Hennebont TT (u. a. mit Kreanga), die am 9. März in Frankreich und am 16. März in Düsseldorf stattfinden, sowie die TTBL-Begegnung von Borussia Düsseldorf bei Borussia Fulda (11.3.) als letzte Wettkampfvorbereitung nutzen.

He is not attending the National Championship. Ovtcharov is now Nr.1 Seed. He withdraw because of a little injury in the shoulder.

He says he played well last match against La Romagne, but lateron he felt the pain in his left shoulder getting worse. He doesn't want to take any risks before the WTTTC. That's why he isn't playing the German national championships, altough he wanted to take back the title from Steger. His last match-preparations before the WTTTC will be those with Borussia against Hennebont and in the German League.

Yes, absolutely right, he said he doesn't want to take any risks to worsen his injury..
BUT I wouldn't be too surprised if he doesn't play all the games at the WTTC but only the important ones and leaves some of the group games to other players...

Yea that wouldn't surprise me either. I think Timo's days at the top could be getting close to over :S

That is too bad. As an athlete ages and starts having more injuries, it becomes harder and harder to keep that top level of performance.

This thread title scared me when I first read it lol. I think Timo Boll has a few years left... He is just avoiding matches, i'm sure hes maintaining a good practice. Lets hope at WTTTC he is fully fit and goes for it . I analysed Bolls technique the other day for lesson with slow mo. I can see how he gets injured. I guess his trainers cannot alter his technique as it could have an effect on his performance.

Yes, because of his technique it's unfortunately no surprise that Boll has some problems with his back from time to time. Even his coach says so but of course you can't change his technique now anymore so he has to cope with..
