I (almost) feel sorry for the Spanish boss.

This is said with zero knowledge of him as a person (so if he's a genuine piece of trash, then fair enough), but it feels a little like the kiss is an excuse to go after him for other reasons.

Yes, you have to be pretty bloody stupid to do what he did on a global scale - But having watched it live at the time, I don't think there was any sinister motives, and the Spanish have a pretty touchy feely culture in general.

Either way, in this day and age he should know better, and he was always going to lose the following arguments.

I think what ever happened "live", among the emotions is one thing.
what happened afterwards is another.
the PR boss should be fired, because I think they handled the situation very poorly.

I think if they handled the situation better, then maybe, things won't turn out so ugly for everyone on that national federation.
But it feels like, the national federation is THE boss, and they want to be the boss and, saying sorry, it was a mistake, is not part of the DNA and they want to fight it.

Taiwan part - have PM you, hope it helps

It's not really the PR boss, it was obvious that they didn't like the man (Rubiales) and used it as an opportunity for retribution, it really wouldn't have mattered if he didn't apologize or not, the real issue is whether the people who wanted him removed could have been appeased. At that level of management in a sport like soccer where so much money is switching hands, there are no angels, the issue is which powerful people have you offended, and how creative they are in trying to attack you. The lady he kissed already had said there was nothing in it, but changed her statements later probably under the influence of the people who need to use the incident to get him back.

Ultimately, it is a world of hierarchy, you just never know what is going to be used to bring you down if you aren't paranoid enough. In a job like that, no one is so special that he can't be replaced. But the kind of fighting and corrupt attitude he displayed is exactly the kind of behavior that gets a man into that kind of position in the first place. His successor is hardly going to be different, at best maybe a better PR person in some contexts.
