i have a pet peeve with the suggest serve receive position so close to the table. For a fast serve wide to the backhand you will not be able to cover it. Also the pivoting suggestion seems unreasonable to me. Who is the target audience ? Hobby players surely wont be able to pivot 2 meters to the left to loop a long serve breaking out sideways with the backhand. Especially not if they stand that close to the table that their bat is above the table. Only very fit players would be able to pivot that far ... if they even saw the ball coming there early enough.
There are quite good players that make it a habit to start more far away from the table to move into the ball instead of having to track back from the table because the ball is too long and fast.
Torben Wosik is a very good example of this. There are videos of him doing this when he was 30 and now with 51 he still employs the far away serve receive stance.
You often here from better players "the opponent has to prove to be actually able to serve very short for you to even consider being able to trouble you with it" and let's be honest. We don't really face ghost serves in competition.
