The latest high performance edge tapes are now made of carbon fibre. They look pretty cool and do help with the bat's aerodynamic performance....reputedly.

Haha...I think they are all just for me, myself and I. Usually I will add 2 or 3 to the shopping cart whenever I placed an order and a few bucks does not seems to hurt much so that is what I end up with.

May be I can pick 2 that I like to share. One from Butterfly which ZJK is still using and one from DHS which says Hurricane. Too bad it is not Provincial or National of any kind. The ZJK one is simply the best quality edge tape I have ever seen. It got embossed white printings on a thick blue cloth material. It is on a class of its own but does not cost any extra. The DHS Hurricane is just the opposite which is cheap, thin, not sticking well and provide next to no protection. I only like the design and color that goes with many blue handle DHS blades. I believe they are both out of print and hard to find now.

I can just imagine the marketing department going "Blimey! A 0.0001 CD decrease!" and jumping on that as their marketing scheme.

Very sturdy, not expensive and just looks rad. The golden print really sticks out on the black background. I also like that it's fairly brand-neutral (the "xiom" is really tiny). Surprisingly sticky though, which means it can easily be used more than once and you have to be careful when peeling it off to not rip a delicate sponge apart (I'm looking at you, EL-S).


I am still waiting for the official REvolution No3 edge tape though

I'm kinda particular about this one. I don't like going without edge tape because I want to protect my blade against any possible dings.

But at the same time, I think 95% of all edge tape is largely useless as they're about as thick as paper. To me those are just decorative stickers.

For this reason I am big on foam edge tape. It actually pads your paddle.

I currently use fastpaddle's edge tape. But they're suppose to be going out of business soon so I don't know how long that'll last.

Because it's thicker, it's possible sometimes on the edges those ends will want to come off when you've had your bat stored away for a few days. Nothing a little rubber cement on the edges won't fix to keep that from happening.

If you don't like branding, ebay member China-friend has this nice looking pure black, red or blue foam edge tape i'll probably move towards in the future.

My favorites are Victas cuz it's sticky but doesn't peel off any sponge, Andro cuz it's very good for protection, and Butterfly cuz they don't get dull very easily. I usually put two edge tapes one on top of the other so I get much better protection.

1 Xiom (12mm) Edge Tape around my blade adds 1,51g weight so i put it ten times around and add approx 15 grams of weight, makes it bid more head heavy for more kick and force in full arm swing and definetely gives good enough protection too
