I feel in this match the loss of G2 hurt Mizutani a lot. He looked like he was a bit more fit than Boll at the beginning of this match. But he got tired and on the physical aspect they became even. Then when it came to skills, Timo was slightly ahead, committing a bit less mistakes, and his YG serve gave problems to Mizutani.
Had Mizutani won G2, then i think he would have been able to close this match, but it became very difficult after that, even if Mizutani fought

i think he was mentally affected by having to remove his glasses as well

well done to Timo.

Niwa isn't good enough to win against Ovtcharov, I doubt they can win against Korea. They should have selected Uda or Oikawa. Niwa was losing almost everything in the last 1-2 years, bad decision in my opinion.

Uda is a lefty. They should've gone for Togami. He's right-handed and the only one who took out Mizutani at the ATTC 2021 trial. Uda lost badly to Mizutani and Sora Matsushima in the group.

Togami and Uda are both very promising players. Technically i don't know if they're as good as Mizutani or Harimoto, but they are definitely very fit, and both have amazing quick footwork. They remind me of young Xu Xin or Ryu SeungMin

Well done to Japan on honourable loss, even Chinese Taipei I was too harsh before. German team is nothing short of amazing and takes big effort to take them down

Yes, Germany is a really strong team. Chinese Taipei played really well, it is unfortunate that their doubles team couldn't deliver the way they hoped it would given their previous WTTC success. But this new team fixture pairing system has made doubles extremely relevant and unfortunately, the change in ITTF ranking system while keeping the same selection criteria hurt Japan's ability to send the best team. At least, we got to see good table tennis regardless.
