Hey everyone!

For those that don't know me, I am a professional table tennis player for Scotland. I am currently world ranked at 228 and I'm in the short-list for the London 2012 Olympics to represent Great Britain. I currently live in London and I work for an amazing new project! I work as the head coach at the TT London Night Club and I'm the assistant manager on the night.

No doubt it is a nice concept..but I suppose it's not for serious play. It's more of a social gathering kind of thing. It's a sports cafe dedicated to table tennis solely. Interesting mate. But since there are no barriers, I should think that the ball will go in between the patrons legs and it could be dodgy going through some girls legs to retrieve the balls, and not to mention quite a number of balls will be squashed.
And also, if you had a bit of a drink, I think it's the last think you should do is to play TT..otherwise the the operator will be facing law suits on weekly basis. They could easily fall over and bang their heads against the table, and it certainly not going to be a pretty sight.
Nevertheless, I would say it's a unique concept.

Not unique. I think they even say they have taken the idea from a club in New York called Spin. Nobody gets hurt but most people are not playing "table tennis": they are playing ping pong. :) It is not a place for serious play, or training. It is a social club with ping pong. Corporate people who think they can play, but really cannot, go with their coworkers, get drunk and play. At Spin, almost every night, someone is jumping up on a table by around 10pm. There are no barriers but they have people walking around with nets the way a restaurant would have buss boys, and each table has a bucket of balls.

Here is a link to Spin NYC: http://newyork.spingalactic.com/spingalactic/event.php?eventid=530

Not my favorite place but it has a function and I like watching the pro tournaments they have every Friday night.

Yea it is a great concept. And there is always a chance that people having fun find out they have a hidden talent and start playing in a club more serious xD. Although it will be too late for them to reach the world top (assuming there are no 6-year olds) it can really help to change people's mind about table tennis in a positive way.

TT London Nightclub

Nice to see some negative but mainly positive feedback about TT London Nightclub! The Youtube clip was taken when the club officially opened and correct it did not have barrier's but the club has changed since then. We have barriers, new tables, and the lay out is different.

Correct it is mainly for fun but as some have you rightly pointed out, its a great advert for table tennis out beloved sport. TT London is different to 'Spin New York' the focus is mainly 'nightclub'.., not a cross between a table tennis club and nightclub as seen at 'Spin'.

TT London is a nightclub with the theme of table tennis, used in various methods such as: Spped dating on the tables, pairing up "Singles" with the opposite sex in a mixed doubles event, hit an acoholic beverage with a serve and have it to drink, etc...

Places like this are definitely good for the sport. I like to do as much training as possible so Spin NYC is not my favorite place because it is not that. But I don't know that that is negative. There are loads of people who go to places like Spin or, I am sure, TT London Nightclub, who would never go to the places I like playing at because they are too serious and the level of play is too high. One of the downsides of the place I play at, I know a lot of people who come, who play for a few months, and when, after playing for a few months they still feel like they are the worst player at the club, the get a little disenchanted. That same player could go to Spin and be one of the best players there, because, even a pretty good player in normal every day life standards is not able to play with a lot of the players at the place I play at. After 2 years of playing, with a USATT rating of 1667, I am a rung and a half over the worst players at my club but they are still pretty decent players.

So, even though, it is not where I want to do most of my playing, there is definitely a place for this and I think these types of places would only deepen people's interest in the sport.

And to me, Spin really seems like a nightclub with ping pong not a training place, even though you can get lessons there. It is a restaurant, bar and nightclub where you can play ping pong.

But it is nice that there is something unique about how TT London Night Club presents itself.
