Sweeeeeet. Captain Hook in effect!!!!

As far as 4:27 is concerned:

Now, I got your answer in that PM so, I am not trying to bug you or anything. But this is exactly the kind of comment that has made me feel the way I do about video footage.

There are some things you say that make me wonder how you play and if you can do the things you think you can.

In 4:27 NextLevel's shot is a touch shot. The angle is good enough and part of what he is doing is, after showing flip, he has touched the ball softly so that, with the angle, there is purposely, not too much pace.

I like to call these Stealth Bomber shots. They slip in under the defense the way a Stealth Bomber was designed to slip in under the radar of enemy defenses. If he put more pace on it, it would actually be more easy to return. And I am comfortable with the fact that, if NextLevel had wanted to flip-kill that ball, he could have. But based on the opponent's reaction in getting ready for NextLevel's attack, the touch shot was a pretty good choice.

Never the less, it is clear you are pretty smart and that you watched the video, and that you love table tennis. So, none of it really matters to me. So I will leave alone that subject other subject.

Carl, I raised the issue of speed first, not Archosaurus. He was actually more impressed with it than I was. I usually do backhand flip/loop that ball but it was so high and my opponent was not in my rating class, so I decided to make the safe play.

The above.

I was referring to a scenario where the shot would not work, and an overall higher level of play would be required. For example, when playing a pro player who is on balance and does not fall for such shots.

In NextLevel's video's context, the shot was brilliant. There was tons of space between the ball and the opponent when it hit the ground, and NL didn't even need to break a sweat doing it.

Here's my latest video from the Learn Table Tennis Series. Please let me know what you think.

Excellent video, Brett. I use that shake at the end to analyze my serve quality.

It works in reverse too, I'd imagine. If you want a lower spin serve, you might wanna tense more. What's your thoughts on that if I may ask?

What a great explanation. I have a question: once I have the basic fluid motion right, how can I increase the speed at the contact?

You increase the speed/spin at contact by making sure you have a fast whip motion at the end of the backswing and stopping the forearm just prior to contact.

Brett, do you mean that the bat head itself should be "stopped" and shaking off the excess energy, or that the forearm is stopped but the wrist, and thus bat head continues moving well after contact?

The forearm stops and the racket continues for an inch or two. You strike the ball when the racket continues for that very short distance, after the forearm stopped. This ensures your racket is moving very quickly and you can still be pin-point accurate.

For Table Tennis Edge app users, there is an update available on both IOS and Android. We've add a Reverse Pendulum serve module and some other improvements. If you've had problems with the app crashing on IOS, that issue is resolved.

Hi Bret. This might sound bizarre, but is there any way I can download the old version of the app without the waiting time between shots (for the multiball)? It was really useful for shadow practice. I used to click the play button, place my tablet on a table, step back maybe two metres, and shadow practice footwork and shot selection according to whether the shot was to my forehand or backhand. With the new version’s waiting time – it’s much slower than gameplay might be.

First of all, you don't want the old version of the app because it will never have all the updates and upcoming shots from a variety of players. You want the option to turn off the pause and shadow play quickly against everyone.

Let's make a deal then. We'll make every attempt to add that functionality, if you post footage of yourself shadow playing against the app. Do we have a deal?

Just kidding. We'll put this on the list of things to consider. It might be there sooner than you think. What type of tablet do you have?

Ha … cheers, I’m not so photogenic.
I just have a Samsung Galaxy tablet – it's not so big – but if I have the app on full screen it does feel like there’s a mini Henzell hitting multi ball at me. (I’m sure he’s bigger in real life) It adds a bit of interactivity to shadow play which makes it less boring and less weird-looking to family members/partners/cell mates etc. I recommend it to everyone. If you added random video footage for shadow play to the app it would be awesome. Thanks for all your work Brett.

Where is the exact location of this footwork thing you've got going on there? Exactly how many cell-mates do you have, btw?

I'm inclined to believe that is just a word lost in translation.

If not, I don't think I want to know what "partner" means in that context.
