Its not just Dima, ZJK has not been in form these few days - full stop.
Yes Dima did well, but how many matches ZJK almost loose? How many matches he won unconvincingly?

Just QF and SF alone is enough to say, ZJK you play 3 or bench. And play XX at 2 and maybe FZD at 3
ZJK has not been in top form for a while....

Yes but i didnt claim that dima was playing alone, ZJK tried also but he just couldnt cope with his opponent today its a two players game thats what im saying dima played well zjk didnt, dima won. As for the coach point of view you are 100% correct but it is easy for us outsiders to judge with a clear head, LGL is a very strict person who sticks to the plan and choose FZD in the team only to participate and gain experience that was his role not to play at the final. It would be more wise if WH played (or maybe put zjk against franziska as you said), he is the best and most steady chinese player in history in terms of win/loss ratio against non chinese players

so many people saying Zhang Jike not on best form....
Why dont they think for themselves that he has had 3 days to sort out his problems so that he would be prepared for the final?

What about Dima?

well,he was on his best form/ZJK wasnt playing his best....

Give the man the due credit. He beat him 3:0 and he played extremely well

why do people only think about the losing player and not give the due credit to the winner?

Even in previous posts, there are many comments on how Boll and Dima made mistakes that made them lose points.

Think of these as tactics used by the opponent. They were forced into these situations, couldnt recover and so they lost the point

end of story:)

Why we talking about ZJK only and not including Dima?
Very simple, we were talking about ZJK was before the final even started - way before the team sheet was filled in.
So if you read more, you will see why.

So no credits taken from Dima
Even if Dima lost and ZJK is in bad form, I would still say ZJK is doing bad - just like SF, QF etc - he won, but not his standard of play!

btw, I'm a Dima fan, especially meeting him earlier this year.

I have noting to add here just saying Ma Long and Zhang Jike's career will probably come to an end after 2016 OG. They will be 27 at 2015 WTTC and 28 at 2016 Rio.

They should be ranked #1 or #2 after 2015 WTTC to qualify for Rio. With Ma Long being #1 already he will have more chance than ZJK. ZJK is currently #5 so he must fight superb to get in to the top 2 and qualify for Rio. So one year from now is very crucial for them.

They are both qualified for this years World Cup. Also they maybe in 2015 WC too but for 2016 WC and after that i think XX and FZD will have more chances since they will be younger than ML and ZJK.

The timer is running fast for ML and ZJK. They have just 2 years from now to complete there careers. After that they will be too old to compete with XX, FZD and other younger guys.

The next one year form now until the end of 2015 WTTC is the key. If they play great then they will be in Rio if not they will never be in OG again.

Also i think a second Grand Slam for ZJK will not be possible since he is getting old unless he plays his 100% in every match. And if he does then still is a huge chance for him to not complete his second Grand Slam. But i hope he can complete it. Go Zhang Jike!

It will be tough for him to even qualify, sadly. His world ranking as of now is really disadvantageous... He needs to step it up. I know am probably annoying others by only talking about zjk but he is the most worthy of discussion as of now. Ma long and xu xin are doing great, other others, like ovtcharov, are at the top of their games.

Here he said just how Ovtcharov played perfect match and he deserved to win ;)

Nice video.
Even though I'm a big Ma Long fan and not such a huge fan of ZJK, I thought it was lame that the interviewer basically put ZJK on the spot by asking him to comment on how Ma Long came through despite his (ZJK's) failure. Yeah, it was pretty obvious Ma Long played great, what else was ZJK gonna say? No need to try to rub it in ZJK's face.

Zhang Jike at least knew how to answer."They prepare for me even harder because Im world and olympic champion"

But the interviewer shouldnt have asked about Ma Long.

Zhang must have been feeling bad over his defeat, but the interviewer had to make him feel it even more.

Thats hard;)

ZJK certainly answered the question in a gracious and generous way, though. It was nice to hear his kind words for Ma Long.

Yeah.No sound of unhappiness from his side even though he lost, had good composure and even wished his fellow teammates well.

really commendable behaviour

To be honest, I was surprised to see ZJK in the two leading players.
I thought ML and XX will be #1 and 2 and ZJK will be #3 to secure a win against Germany's
#3. But LGL surprised me by putting ZJK who has not been performing his best (still good enough to
beat most opponents). Any way, my hero saved China! ;-)
I think ZJK does not peak up his performance other than in Olympics and WC games, which, to me, is
enough to leave him out of CNT. I don't think someone like FZD would lose to Dima 3-0.
And, what a player ML is, just amazing to watch. I just love him play.
It's a pity that he is not a grand slam winner and ZJK is!

I love ML because of his playing style, not his achievements.

Someone on this forum said that: "You are nothing if you will not achieve a Grand Slam. People will forget you 20 yrs from now". But I thing diffefently.

ML is a so special player with a very beautiful strokes, that is inspirational to a lot of table tennis fans. His stroke movements so pefect that it look like the sample
stroke in a textbook guide. That's why there were a lot of his training clips on the net, more than any player'one in the world. People are enthusiastic to watch he playing in arena, are hungry to watch his clips to simulating his movements.

20 yrs from now, there are a dozens of players who get a WC, OG or Grand Slam, titles. Who will remember a long list of them??? Who will watch a match they playing again and again and again...?
I have just watched one or two matches of Waldner, Kong , LQL.. I don't remember.

But 20 yrs from now, even ML wil not achieve a WC, OG or Grand Slam, i believe people will keep watching his matches, his training clips to try to simutaling his stroke movements...

For me, if he keep going to the arena with 100% effort, whatever tounament is, whoever opponent is, he wil be my hero. Go Ma Long!
