You folks are getting ahead of yourself.

Both Uda and Matsushima have suffered 2 early exits against players that they should've won so far this year. Uda actually faced far more top-10 players (in bold below) and pretty much lost to them only. While being lower-ranked, WCT took out CSM, CDS, Uda and barely lost to Shinozuka at WTT SCT Doha 2025.

LYJ dropped out of top-10 at Asian Cup 2025 and WTT CS Incheon 2025, and Matsushima lost really bad both times.

Well i guess his record is now blemishes with his loss to Yousef. And of course, Sora's victories over Xiang Peng etc. don't give him any extra credit. Tieba uses are tough graders. But of course as always, Uda and Sora are young and promising...

QF
Karlsson 3-0 Matsushima (12, 9, 7)
Thank TT god he is not playing MS at WTTC 2025. What made him think he could win at Paris 2024 and wouldn't lose to European players? Such an eyesore.

It's hard to really tell because Sora is so laid back, but I'm not sure he really wants to be in XD or is he being asked to by the JNT. Perhaps Japan should consider trying out Odo and Shinozuka.
Shinozuka and Odo can make a good team but you want your two best talents paired together. I wonder whether the internal vibes on Matsushima are the same as the spectator vibes because he would not be so privileged if they were.

JNT too kind with Matsushima.

He’s too instable. Also is he slacking ? Don’t know but he clearly has an attitude problem.

a thicker but overall worse version of Koki Niwa IMO.

The problem is that he is 18( in 3 days) and there are no equally promising prospects. It will be interesting to see whether he can build a better portfolio of 3-2 comebacks. Karlsson is a legit terrorist though... but it shouldn't have been 3-0 going away....

I’ve not seen his match but I can imagine …
I don’t like to watch him. Able of great things but most of time sabotaging his own matches with a loser and spoiled brat attitude.

Waiting for some reports he’s changed for good before caring to watch again

I wasn’t expecting Karlsson to play any more games at this event due to injury. He had to pull out of mixed doubles and mens doubles. I thought it was a serious injury. I guess a day to recover was fine for him.

It shouldn’t have been 3-0 though. I was expecting a much closer game against Sora.

It was close, at least the first two games. But for some reason, if Sora isn't front running or doesn't win game 2, he struggles to do something to change the tone of the game. It might be age but it might be a serious limitation.
