Both of these players were not as successful in the Men’s Single’s event, it was a surprise to us all when Korea’s Seo Hyundeok was defeated in the first round by Japanese teenager Masataka Morizono, two rounds later London 2012 Olympic Champion Zhang Jike was beaten by his colleague Yan An.

On route to the Men’s doubles final the successful pairing faced many tough opponents, in the last sixteen they were met by Liventsov Alexey (RUS) and Paykov Mikhail (RUS) who they defeated in three comfortable straight sets (11-7, 11-2, 11-1). Going into the quarter-final they faced Kuzmin Fedor (RUS) and Skachkov Kirill (RUS) who they were also able to defeat in three straight sets (11-6, 11-7, 11-4), in the semi-final they had a tougher match as they had a three games to two win over Mattenet Adrien (FRA) and Xu Xin (CHN) (14-12, 11-5, 7-11, 6-11, 11-7).

In the final the talented duo had yet another hard fought five game win as they defeated second seeds Lee Jungwoo (KOR) and Ma Long (CHN) (11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8).
