Yes. I think that this was a good match for ZJK as I think it will help him commit to adapting if he wants to continue. The serving strategy was also clearly incorrect for this opponent. He needs to serve into the wide backhand much more. It was toooooo easy for Harimoto to get the initiative on almost every point. That ZJK didn't play a memorable backhand down the line is also telling - it means Harimoto almost always played down the line first.

Harimoto plays a game similar to ML. Speed was never ZJK's strong suit back in his heydays and he just played into Harimoto's strength. Harimoto is like a poison to him in that regard. In the 3rd game, Harimoto almost fell into his own trap again, forcing his FH shots like what happened at the Team World Cup and WTTC, but ZJK couldn't turn it into his advantage.

somehow I think he will destroy Timo in next round badly. Anyway it should be very interesting match.

Destroying some one like Timo is really hard. Timo is really good and really versatile so people who destroy him usually are very versatile and LJK has to prove that as Timo adapts better than anyone I can think of to the pace of play. So you have to be ready when Timo tries this, then this, then this. If FZD and ML aren't destroying Timo, it says a lot. When ML destroys Timo, it's in the score, but the match never felt that way.

In fact I prefer Timo to win, but watching LJK when he is on fire destroying ML, FZD and others is hard to believe he can loose. On the other hand he had big troubles playing international, now it seems he has found his rythm and do not rush that much. I hope for exciting match.
Also I think the other interesting can be Harimoto vs LGY - Betting for harimoto 4:2. LGY is fighting for 3rd spot in CNT kicking off XX, so this match is very important for him. Harimoto fights for better ranking and breaking the chinese wall.

For me, "win" is not the same thing as "destroy". And LJK doesn't destroy FZD, and when you play people over and over, things like serve and reading the game go out of the window, and those are the things that Timo forces you to do. I keep telling people that it is not about finding rhythm, it is about getting fitter and losing weight. When you are fitter, you can do more things. You don't feel as if you have to end the point immediately.

LGY I think is superior to Harimoto at what Harimoto does, so it will be fun to watch.

Zhang jike was flooded by reporters after his lose to tomo . If I'm not wrong he was interviewd for 20 minutes . Zeio Im happy that u r alive ...

Zhang Jike: Speed became the main cause of defeat, leaving too many opportunities for opponents. Finding problems through competition is the greatest value of the game!

Well, well. ZJK didn't reign in the short game, did apply pressure on the deep BH but somehow did not pressure TH's FH much. His connection between BH and FH seemed less fluid at times, and I too would think his service strategy did'nt seem helpful.

I like his attitude, though, in treating this loss as a valuable learning experience. Good for him; hope it helps.

I would be interested to see what he said in his full post match interview, but yeh it definitely seems like he is just keen to learn from his losses and improve for next time.

I honestly don't think he is putting any pressure on himself to produce results, I think he just wants to improve his game through competition and perhaps with this, results will start to come.

I think in Table Tennis this is hugely important. Of course results matter in the long run, but the important thing when starting out or returning after a break is to focus on every point, and get yourself to a level of play that you are satisfied with. Too many players (myself often included) get annoyed after a loss, and don't focus on what went wrong and how this can change for next time. This is something I have tried to change over the last year or so, and it seems like something the ZJK is doing too.

Yeah good point . To be honest I never chang my game after my lose and it nvr helps for sure . But I will try this certainly . I'm sure it will effect my game positively . Also I forgot what my fault is . So I must write it down somewhere lol

I can see Wang Chuqin and Harimoto reigning the TT world in a few years. After Tokyo 2020 we might enter a TT world with two young champions from China and Japan. They are currently just so good at their age. Wang Chuqin probably has less experience than Harimoto at the moment.

Passionate about TT
