Togami vs Harimoto
G1 60, 62, 64, 94, 105, 108, 118 dead net for Togami
G2 13, 33, 36, 56, 57, 67, 68, 78, 79, 89, 810, 1010, 1012
Luck is working the way it does for the weaker side, which is Togami. If Harimoto doesn't win here, then his game is likely not maximizing his luck, similar to Hayata.
G3 10, 11, 21 endline edge for Togami, 42, 44, 84 endline edge for Togami, 85 Togami served off the table, 88, 108, 109, 119
G4 10, 11, 21, 24, 44, 45, 85, 86, 96, 97 Togami served into the net, 98 TO for Togami, 118
G5 20, 23, 33, 34, 44 Harimoto served into the net, 49, 59, 510, 910 TO for Harimoto, 911
G6 01, 11, 12, 22, 25, 55, 56, 76, 77, 87, 88, 98, 99, 109, 1010, 1110, 1111, 1211, 1212 epic ZJK's chiquita at World Cup 2014 from Harimoto, 1214 Hari Bauer! Even the TTTV commentator is rooting for Harimoto.
Harimoto gets more easy points from spin variation. Countering off the bounce with medium-high spin constantly just falls into Togami's pace. He has firmly grasped the "point" of Harimoto's shots.
G7 01 BH corner edge for Harimoto, 02, 32, 33, 43, 45, 55 BH corner edge for Togami, 57, 77, 78, 108, 109 Harimoto stepped around to use FH for the first time in G7?, 1010, 1110 endline edge for Togami, 1111, 1211, 1212 FH 3rd ball kill from Harimoto, 1312, 1313 FH 3rd ball save from Harimoto, 1314, 1414, 1415 deep BH push to BH from Harimoto, 1416 decisive FH from Harimoto

Much-needed win for Harimoto and much much-needed loss for Togami. Hari always proves his fighting spirit even during great adversity, he focuses on one point at a time without trying to go for the kill right away and varies spin/placement to invite mistakes from his opponent. Today god test him and he did it!

Togami once again re-lives his lost at Taiyuan, 2 match point in 6th and 8 in the 7th and he still can't finish the match. Harimoto has been closing the technique gap but Togami hasn't improve his mental much. I'm worry for his upcoming Olympic singles

Japan girls final standings:

1. Hayata: 790.5 + 120 = 910.5
2. Hirano: 486 + 50 = 536
3. Ito: 451.5 + 20 = 471.5
4. Miwa: 330.5 + 100 = 430.5
5. Kihara: 354 + 50 = 404
6. Nagasaki: 278 + 50 = 328
7. Sato: 252 + 20 = 272

Harimoto overtakes Kihara to finish 4th. No other notable changes. Interesting to note that even if Miwa had won and Ito earned zero points this time, Ito would still be ahead by exactly 1 point.

Also, note that Miwa achieved fourth place with ZERO singles points from WTTC, Asian Champs, and Asian Games.

Adjusted for points from international tournaments:

1. Hayata: 910.5 - 235 (including +15 from WYD) = 675.5
2. Hirano: 536 - 70 = 466
3. Miwa: 430.5
4. Ito: 471.5 - 120 = 351.5
5. Kihara: 404 - 60 = 344
6. Nagasaki: 328 - 20 = 308
7. Sato: 252 - 20 = 232

Ito had a 60 point handicap over Hirano which the latter neutralised somewhat with wins over SYS and WYD + an Asian Games singles spot (10 + 15 + 10 = 35) and still didn't make it. Taking away points from her international performances really shows just how much better Harimoto has been performing over the past year.

It’s only Harimoto’s 2nd singles title at All-Japan. He won his first one in 2018 aged 14 !

For Hayata it’s her 3rd singles win. She ties with Ito. Ishikawa has 5 singles crowns
My memory must be bad, I would have sworn he has at least one more.

Back in 2018 everyone thought he will win many more the next few years but then he stagnated somehow. I'm glad he won his second, it's well deserved. Togami could have won another one with 8? match points though.

I think Togami is progressing nicely, this loss is just what it is and not the end of it. If he can stay at this level and bring it to international matches and Shinozuka and Matsushima fill in the lefty spot, Japan should have 3 players in top 20 and will be real threats to Germany as the World #2.

I think that his performance at the national championships revealed his fundamental issues - what I find interesting about this match is how many unforced errors on serve receive be was able to get out of a teammate like Togami. It didn't happen on crucial points though and he was forced to win this match with rallying abilities especially on forehand. Hopefully the progress will continue.

In an important sense, he was rushed by Japan to meet 2021 Olympic goals but if he had been built out on a Chinese time table, his target would have been 2028. And his game would have been revised to play away from the table much earlier. But all this is easier to see now with the hindsight of all the wrong paths taken.

Rewatching it, I want to applaud him for the chase he made from 5-10 to 9-10 in the 5th set. If Harimoto failed to close the set there he would've taken this match 4-1 as usual.

Helluva performance from Hayata winning 20 games and only dropping 1 throughout the whole tournament.

Easily handled Miwa with just spin variation and placement, and avoding trading power shots.

Hari Bauer, a reference to the figure skating element named after Ina Bauer, was coined by the Japanese media back when Harimoto celebrated with over-the-top back-breaking cholei when he was still a junior.

I only knew about Jack Bauer. His ability to overcome any seemingly helpless situation and to endure immense amount of pain

When you google Ina Bauer, the images do make sense as a description of how Hari celebrates. The Japanese can be so poetic...
