When it was Parker and the other lady yesterday, they didn't recognize any of the famous former champions in the audience. Thought that was a bit crazy that I've been a fan for only a couple of years and can recognize more former players than the announcers of the Olympic f-ing games.
For someone who has played and coached he isn't very insightful and yet he gets to keep commentating the Olympics.
I am a fan of Don Parker, I don't get the hate. He actually played coached and understands table tennis and is familiar with the history as a participant. A bit too positive on younger talents but always great to get his insights.
They recognized them but they probably didn't mention them. Everyone's commentary style Is defined by what they think the crowd is interested in and not everyone has Adam's combination of exposures or interests.
His personality is not uncommon in Britain or Europe. I resonate with it.
Possibly, but it's not like they were talking about something different and more important at the time. Many times it was just silence during those moments and it would've been great for them to acknowledge old legends from TT past.
He may be a living legend, but he's boring to listen to.
