Better team won but it was dangerously close. First time team USA has been competitive in the team event. Germany P card stepped up under pressure but PP card and veteran need to perform better to beat India.
This is not true even in 2016 or 2020 or 2012, a lot comes down to the draw.

Draws for r16 are ridiculous and does a disservice to teams with a chance of medalling if they draw China or Japan early. I would love a return to the Beijing 2008 format. If they are concerned about running over time they can have a knockout stage for the last 8 seeds first.

Remaining 12 teams get drawn into groups of 3. Group winners go directly to semis and 2nd place finishers go to bronze play-offs. You'll still need to win 4 matches to win gold but lower seeded teams will get the playing time they deserve.

Is Sally the reserve player for US women's team? I would have chosen her over Rachel.
yes,
sadly, Sally had knee surgery end of last year, and she only had 2 weeks of table tennis before the USA olympic trials, of which she nearly beaten Rachel.
Sally is much better now, but still wears the brace.
Sally was training in Taiwan for the build up and I saw her quite a few times.
Even took the Indian junior to go have photos with her. She was P card for USA, while the Indian junior academy senior is Indian no 3.

schedule is not a problem
just look at the amount of matches during the finals (QF onwards per day) of all TT events

Exact same strategy as Tokyo 2020. Shin Yubin to play against a chopper if we go to a decider.
Makes sense this time since Lee Eunhye probably will have no problems against Swedish no.3, at least on paper.

Also I like how JJH's Chun Li hairstyle is so iconic that even the Korean media has picked it up.

It all comes down to the doubles for TPE and will need at least one more singles win in M2~M4, then TPE should have it in the bag.

yes. photo taken from Paris

Yes the doubles is big for both teams as it gives the ace room to play with. Both LYJ and Harimoto can beat each other so doubles will go along way towards reducing their pressure and giving them positive motivation.

Since this teams format came out, majority of 3-2 wins is determined by doubles.

This isn't a book where you can look at the cover and know how it will end...
Other than WCQ in MS and Harimoto/Hayata in XD, the seeding positions for XD/WS/MS were well reflected in the SF (at least 3 of the top 4 seeds made it).
