The most damning part of this is that this is the same team that Germany beat in European games last year. And Franziska clinched the winning match then, the main difference though is that Dang beat Truls in singles if my memory serves me right.

There was also a Team European Championship where the same Swedish team could only win 3-2 against Germany‘s 2nd team where only Timo was present from the elites

I think that one was 3-1 actually. That was Timo and Duda and Timo beat Falck, but Duda and Timo lost to Truls and I think Karlsson beat the #3 German kid but maybe it was Kallberg my memory fades.

Thank you Timo for all the memories, wonderful moments including being the main threat to the Chinese, and inspiration that brought many of us to the sport along with showing how to be fair in everything. They do. Last year I had an opportunity to watch European Youth Championships and there were a couple of prospects around the 15yo mark. I mean Neumann or Itagaki are not the level of Harimoto or Pavade, but I occassionally watch the Youtube of Deutscher Tischtennis-Bund and they seeem to invest in them quite heavily.

I was sitting here thinking that Franziska has himself to blame for not being there, too inconsistent and not doing enough to get the nod bla bla (that's how I've always seen him) but my memory failed me (outside of Saudi Smash runner up) so I had to check the results.
He DEFINITELY warranted a place over Dima and Timo!
Gotta blame the coach for wilful blindness in his loyalty to the Timo and Dima there.

Yes. Dima deserved his place too I reckon.
I didn't write it well but I more meant that I'd have had Dang Qui and Francisca as 1&2 with Timo fighting Dima for spot 3.
I'd forgotten a lot about the past 6 mths before I looked at results. Maybe Rosskopf did too!
