I just don't recall the look of disappointment even for a China vs. China matchup at the Olympics. Or anyone flipping off Deng Yaping when she won gold. Or chanting Wang Nan's name while Zhang Yining is getting her photoshoot after winning gold in Beijing.

Yep, the CNT is super tough especially on the back half of the game.

It happens often and consistently enough where there's definitely more to it than their opponents choking. But it's obviously a lot more pronounced when the opponents actually get too tense and try to force things.

Compare that with Hirano who managed that big lead in G1 despite the tide favoring China and used her brain to close the big gap in G2 and G3. Hirano should've been selfish and just played her hearts out in WS until her knee broke.

It's the truth, seriously I think the game is over, no one on the Japanese team can beat CM.

It's not just you. It's plenty of people online who found it utterly bizarre. I've been watching the Olympics since the 80s and I've seen China win countelss gold medals. Only in this event did I see such a cold reaction to a victory.

Of course people with no explanation to give will tell you that you're crazy or imagining things. It's a lot easier than actually providing a coherent explanation. But yeah, don't let people bully into disbeliving something you've witnessed with your own eyes. Either they've got some mental impediment that doesn't allow them to read facial expressions well (these people do exist) or they're just being dishonest.

SYS still refuses to drop a game to a non Chinese player. Think she's something like 13-0 on game points against non CNT this Olympics. That doesn't even take into account the giant comeback against Hirano in that G1.

It's the truth, seriously I think the game is over, no one on the Japanese team can beat CM.

It's interesting how, after watching so much top class TT in such a short space of time you kind of dial in to what's happening, what's needed, what's NOT going to happen.
From everything I've seen, CM V SYS being the biggest example, Hirano would need to start hitting CM quality of shots to both corners of the table to stand a chance. Not possible.
And also worth remembering, CM was able to beat the world no 1 because she trains with her every day and knows her game inside and out. Nobody else has this advantage V SYS and most of them are beaten in the warmup cos belief, REAL belief is the other ingredient that I've only seen CM possess
