While I agree in principle, discussions on politics can be highly divisive since it's a topic that people are usually very passionate about. This often leads to heated discussions and personal attacks.
This can be very tough and time-consuming for the moderators, so they'll have to decide if they're willing to put up with that, and accept the potential fall-out. o_O
Note sure if the forum rules allow it.
Agree. There's no shortage of other forums to discuss and rage about politics. It will only cause division here in TTD.
(FWIW, I posted about rubbers...)

Off topic… why not…

Cheers

1. There are other forums where people can discuss that topic if they want.
2. Let’s start talking about religion as an example. These subjects have many thoughts and opinions, and these opinions can’t transcend to everyone around the globe. This is a global forum, so many wouldn't even understand what the other means.
3. Its the same with politics. I read that politics even divide marriages .. people that dearly love each other (should). it's obvious what it can do on this forum where I don't give a shit about the opinions of others.

There are no specific rules about what is discussed, except the basics
You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, risks copyright infringement, encourages unlawful activity, or otherwise violates any laws. You are entirely responsible for the content of, and any harm resulting from, that Content or your conduct.

It's true it can be said it is divisive, but what does it mean - it only manifest that there is a division - meaning difference in views, difference in things we consider true... Prohibiting speaking about it is worse... When we speak about rubbers we take it for granted now that everyone has his personal preferences, everyone prefers different rubbers, and that this preference can also change - and there is no problem. So, why would it be here? Putting this label "divisive", you know, I think is contra-productive... And I'd like to actually see an evidence that such discussion causes what we'd say "unacceptable havoc"..

Similarly you're right we can be passionate about our beliefs, possibly about politics, and religion. But I still think we should be able to speak about it... And no, I don't want to go to "other" forums ;-) I want to speak about politics and religion only with TT players! ;-) ... Well, I definitely think there is a demand to speak about these things, because we consider them interesting... sometimes more than the differences in rubbers...

First president that is also a convicted felon with multiple sexual assault allegations against him and ties to Epstein. What could possibly go wrong.
Don't forget impeached TWICE! Has no respect for democracy or rule of law, instigated riots, convicted criminal, guilty of fraud on and on. Just boggles the mind how people completely overlook the man's character.

Perfect example of white entitlement. If it was anybody else they would be in jail for 25yrs to life.

As I've already mentioned elsewhere, I never mind a good trashtalk here and there for fun, like I've done with zeio about the rest of the world minding about Taïwan's problems, not only Tony. Of course it was a political joke ! but it's never been intended to offend zeio. If he took personal as it was not AT ALL personal, but just a good laugh, well that's its own business, not ours. I'm absolutely not a trumpist, not a Melonist, nor a Le Penist (the pun was close :ROFLMAO:). But yes if it's done with respect for everyone, a good laugh is always welcome, times are too much difficult for EVERYONE here on this planet since years and years, if we can't laugh about serious things, humanity is dead then !

New rubbers announced:
Trump 47 - comes in orange only. The "TRUMP" name occupies 85% of the rubber face. Can only be used by documented players.
Kamala 47 - makes a unique cackling sound. Can only be used for pre-arranged games. Perfect replacement rubber when your Biden 46 rubber wears out.
Biden 46 - designed for octogenarian players. Solid but very slow. Ball can bounce in random directions.
Degrees should match their age, perhaps USA would stop picking that old candidates like Biden and Trump 🤣

If Trump's Dad had chosen a better rubber, we wouldn't be having this discussion ;)

Look... as a french dude I've been really shocked by January and November 2015, comedy, humour, saracasm should not be banned from everyday life, as Pierre Desproges once said "you can laugh about everything, but not with everybody", here he was meaning it was not his fault if someone took anything personal. When you're enough confident with your faith, your political beliefs, then it's not a clown doing humour with politics or religion that should matter to you right ? I mean... am I that important so you should take everything I say for a personal offense for example ?

People tend to confuse the people with the state or the religion, that's a mistake, a big one. I don't like Putin nor Trump, am I going to dislike all the americans and all the russians then ? or to refrain myself from having jokes with russians or americans ?
