Probably right. Miwa seems inevitable, but maybe Hina can hold her off a bit longer.
well, the start of the ending included All Japan
Kasumi's ending took few years

Have to say, Hayata still looks great
loosing 3 points at 9-7 did hurt

Really hurt. Cost her the first two games.

Frasier's right, Miwa's weakness is forehand recovery. Hina's making some progress playing out wide to her forehand. Enough to win game 3?

Harimoto 4-1 Hayata (11, 2, 9, -7, 11)

Harimoto has gotten familiar with how to get around Hayata and to pull it off, by playing with a more spin-oriented and control game to disrupt Hayata's flow, like CXT and ZYL, with random flat hits mixed in, like Ito.

Another issue with Hayata (after months of observation) is that it seems like she has trouble making a proper stroke on shots close to her FH crossover (which are already difficult to return), especially those that require a quick transition between pronation and supination with the elbow bent at an acute angle.

Even with the gameline at 4-1, this was an incredibly compelling and tense match between the two (save for Game 2 obviously).

Miwa winning 4 close games that went to 9-9 or deuce is an amazingly encouraging quality for her mindset. It's one of those things that separate the top Chinese players from the rest of the pack. Her demonstrating that at the end of a XD/WD/WS marathon firmly establishes her as #1.

Don't even think Hayata played any worse than her previous form. Miwa is just improving at that sort of rate.

Harimoto serve return was excellent
other than a few, most of them took away Hayata's advantage.

Both players knows each other very well and both players had this issue BH to far FH in this match.

Great win for Miwa, despite being so tired, but Hayata is far from retiring.

no doubt Miwa (only 16) is better than when she was 15 and 14 :p
Japan is gifted with so many young and improving players.

Great sportsmanship by both players too.

Miwa has CNT levels of offense in bursts. Hina can't stray too far from the table and play defense vs. that quality any longer. Her FH is not as stable as it was pre-Paris. And her serves were largely ineffective against Miwa. Maybe throw in some low, no spin serves that cannot be attacked easily. She's got a lot of work ahead of her, but she's still top 2 in Japan until another player knocks her off. Miwa is looking really good heading into the WTTC.

This tournament is Miwa's tournament. Not the best place for Hayata to defend her record.

Miwa is just technically better than Hayata - more solid compact strokes (much less wild compared to Hayata), better spin, better footwork. Not surprising that she will eventually figure out Hayata's tricks and overcome her. The way Miwa is playing now, I think Timo Boll will lose to her now.

You need fire-power, speed and consistency like that from Sun Yingsha or Wang Manyu to overcome Miwa all the time imo.

But Miwa is still young and still vulnerable to tricks like those from pips unfortunately.
