This is nothing (4 matches a day)
I have seen 7 matches a day at the World Juniors.
You have this problem when you play 3 events, and they decide to have singles, doubles and mixed matches on the same day.
I prefer they have specific days for each event. Which is better for preparations - including control table for scheduling.
The weaker players won't have a problem - because they loose, and they can rest.
The stronger players will win, and then more matches clattered together.
Then we sit back and wonder, why there are so many injuries and fatigue and lack of love in playing table tennis.
with the above, a 10 hour day, with 4 matches, with 4 hours break inbetween, at world championship level is a bit crazy.
basically that means, 2 hour prep, then you have 1 hour match, 1 hour break non stop.
So no time for recovery, injury prevention, meals, rest, etc.
the 7 matches I witness.... player came off, sat down, change his shirt, got some fruits and ate, and they called his name. He didn't even sit down for 5 mins.
So then he went off to play - Harimoto. He had 3 matches continue like that going into the singles with Harimoto and he lacked food/nutrition - after the first game, he told the coach, he is a bit dizzy. Had some sugary drinks, but that match was over for him, he already skipped lunch, and it was near late afternoon, with his previous meal, breakfast. The kid was still a minor.
