So I ended up sticking to the FZD for 6 months as I started getting coaching and didn't wanna mess with equipment for a while. Now I've improved my FH/BH fundamentals I decided to give the Q968 a twirl. The FH is fantastic, not the exaggerated arc of the W968 but better than the FZD, great spin, and much more power compared to the FZD. The BH is a lot more crisp than the W968. It's not as crisp as the FZD let alone the Viscaria, but crisp enough that I can use the same motion.
The caveat is that, at least for me, it doesn't work very well with H3 on the BH side for an intermediate level player like me. The H3 like the W968 is very much an all-or-nothing type of equipment. You either play soft or you go all out with a big motion. On the pro level the opponent shots are strong enough to activate the combo, but at the intermediate level you get a lot of relatively weak returns that you can theoretically kill but I don't have the skills to do so. OTOH, due to its crispness, it actually works pretty well with the D09c, unlike the W. So now I have the D09c on it and will give it a try for a few months to see if I'd rather switch back to the FZD. Maybe if my BH gets better I can give the H3 (or maybe H8?) another try, but right now I'm sticking to the same rubbers as on my FZD.
