For 2024, between Feb and Nov and except for May and Jun, Butterfly rubbers dominated 6 of the top 10, with Nittaku, Yasaka and Xiom rubbers filling the remaining 4 places.

With the weak yen, 2025 is likely going to be another bleak year for ESN rubbers.

A month after the release of Zyre-03, for the first time in recent years, Butterfly rubbers dominated 7 of the top 10 the last 2 months, with Nittaku, Yasaka and Victas rubbers and Nittaku and Xiom rubbers filling the remaining 3 places for November and October, respectively.

Matsushita Koji and Philip Kim reveal the reason behind the new alliance between Victas and Xiom formed on 2024/7/17. It was all because of Rozena and Glayzer, the latter in particular. Victas hasn't been able to recover the sales lost during COVID-19 and Xiom couldn't see the future after Rozena and Glayzer were introduced.

Explain this to me.

Since I've returned to TT I've avoided Butterfly rubbers because I've considered it over-prized, and I thought I can find whatever I need elsewhere. On the FH I've somehow started to like the dense sponge, and it's already couple of years. On the BH, I tried many rubbers and I've found what I call a compromise in the "Glayzer". I'm aware there are more spinny rubbers, there are also less spin-sensitive rubbers, there are softer and harder rubbers and what not. It's just good for me and I have always seen it just as that - simply a lucky hit for me, it just happens to be what I like on the BH. And I have never seen a reason why would Glayzer and the G09C be a market hit or a danger for the concurrence. I just don't see it.

Remember...

I have the numbers from the supplier of Tenergy/Rozena/Dignics/Glayzer for Butterfly. Overall, the rise of one is matched by the dip of the other(s) in the past several years.

7/10 places dominated by Butterfly in Japan is something I've never seen before

For the price is pretty good but to be honest i can't understand either. It's so bouncy for the modern game.
With good skill bouncynes is a non-issue, and rozena is a intermediate rubber most people in that skillrange don't think about playing short.
I myselfe like rozena a lot, it has a lot of safty and for the time it was released a good a mount of Spin. I can spin with my backhand and people block out. And if ita for sale you can get it for around 30€ which is pretty good for the rubber you get.

Forget the previous record. Q3 (10-12/2024) of FY2025 shattered it by a mile thanks to the Paris 2024. First time in the 200 million yens territory.

Coupled with the Outerforce blade series, Butterfly is keen on capturing the mid-range segment. ESN will be on life support at this rate...
The latest numbers are in. Good news and bad news.

Good news is Butterfly smashed the previous highest sales record by a ridiculously wide margin thanks to Zyre-03, close to 250 million yens for Q3 (10-12/2025) of FY2026. Bad news is production capacity needs another expansion and the last time it happened (here and here) sales took a dip.

Needless to say, this came at the expense of ESN. They barely broke even for 2024 (despite strong but stagnant sales that are comparable to 2023) and are again millions in the red after paying dividends like for 2022. In response, they are sizing up developing markets such as India and Indonesia. Good luck with the former.

With how massive some of the ESN player sponsorship deals are (in terms of direct salary) that have been signed over the last few years, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the companies end up in really dangerous territory.

That would be for the next ranking in April. This one is for March, right before the World Cup. It could be Miwa winning in Chongqing.

7 of the top 10 went to Butterfly for 4/2026, most likely due to the historically weak yen (strong export but weak import). Even Harimoto has noted in a recent interview that the prize money he got from WTT events got a boost after converting from USD to JPY.
